This came up earlier in a game, where borgs killed an Alien Wizard and his Alien Apprentice. The Alien Apprentice had his skin clearly visible that he was an alien. The wizard on the other hand had a gem hardsuit, which completely covered his skin, so it wasn't clear he was an alien. The borg used Examine, which showed his naked sprite to see the borg, and this was the only way that he knew it was an alien.
Is using examine to tell the species of something as a borg who is completely covered without any exposed skin an acceptable thing to do? Or is the examine showing a naked sprite an oversight which will be eventually fixed?

Well, it's not outrageous to imagine the borgs can tell what species something is without seeing the skin. They've got built in medical HUDs, for example.

There are too many tells to properly enforce something like this, just assume the borgs/ai always know what race you are.
In my opinion the AI/Borgs seeing you as non human is one of the balancers on non human races.

The examine function's little species icon is stupid and just causes issues like this.
I'm pretty sure its supposed to show you them with all their kit on but it doesnt.

There is a lot of very bizarre nonsense being talked on this forum. I shall now remain silent and logoff until my points are vindicated.

Just came here to say: screech, retards. Screech and writhe like the worms you are. Your pathetic little cries will keep echoing around for a while before quietting down. There is one great outcome from this: I rised up the blood pressure of some of you shitheads and lowered your lifespan. I'm honestly tempted to do this more often just to see you screech and writhe more, but that wouldn't be cool of me. So come on haters, show me some more of your high blood pressure please.![]()

Or maybe the silicons can just analyze organics more in depth and figure out their species.

I don't really think this should be much of a policy discussion, more of an in-game exploit due to a bug. When we finally fix the ability to see your skin and all that in the tiny icon, then we'll be able to assume they can't kill you if they don't know what race you are.
Apparently I was an director or something.

Re: Borgs Killing Aliens without exposed skin
If this helps at all, part of my Plasmamen intiative is changing the examine sprite to just show your current appearance instead of your species, because it's silly that your species is shown no matter what you happen to be wearing/how good your disguise is. So when that hopefully gets merged this will no longer be an issue.
