Post Content: So I just downloaded BYOND today, so I could play some SS13 with some friends, but I somehow got myself permanently banned from the server by having a cheeky character name and by not understanding that an admin was trying to talk to me or something like that.

Byond account and character name: angrythunder101 and P. ENNIS

Banning admin: aloraydrel

Ban type (What are you banned from?): A Permanent Ban and I think just from sybil.

Ban reason and length: Running around with the name P.ENNIS and unresponsive to two separate ahelps, appeal this when you feel like talking. The ban is permanent.

Time ban was placed (including time zone): 2017-02-21 00:13:06 and eastern time zone I believe.

Your side of the story: So I decided to play with a couple of friends today since they convinced me to try it out, but what ended up happening was that the game as a whole just overwhelmed me. To combat this, I decided to take a more carefree approach to the game with a memey name such as P. ENNIS. I thought that I would maybe make someone laugh or even possibly make a new pal. I still don't really know what ahelps are, but from what my friend said, I was supposed to respond back to the admins when they sent me a message with a loud beep. I honestly didn't really notice the beeps or the chat at all because I was just trying to figure out how to play.

Why you think you should be unbanned: I don't know much about this game or its community, but from what I could grasp earlier today, it really looks like a fun rp simulation with actual depth to it and I think I'd like to be a part of this community. I hope you guys can understand that I really was just dumbfounded when I opened up this game and if you can unban me that would be much appreciated.

Space Station 13 (BYOND games in general) can be very difficult to learn. This tutorial can help you out. It also links to the rules, which you should definitely read as well, especially if you're going to be playing with friends:

As far as this ban, I'm not the original banning admin but I would bet it isn't because you did something horribly awful but more a combination of:

1. Your character name, outside a few roles that you probably won't be playing your first time around, generally characters should have a realistic, non-memey first and last name. We're a little more lax on this than some servers but there is a line.
2. Not answering adminhelps, the BWOINK can be startling but if someone ignores admin PMs a temporary ban is pretty much the only way to get in touch with them. It also doesn't always mean you're in trouble, sometimes admins need to get multiple sides of a story.

I'm going to lift this ban, but remember to follow our rules, especially when it's about metacommunications(talking with people outside the game about things going on in the round is bad!). Also remember to change your name to something that looks more with a name!
