New way to open abandoned crates

Post by calzilla1 » #199594

Well there's no lava in space, emittering/ shotguning them are way too slow and costly, and multi tooling them is fucking awful, I think you should be able to thermite their locks.
Splash 1 unit on the abandoned crate, wait 30- 45 seconds, and boom crates open. This wouldn't work on regular cargo crates since Nanotrasen would have higher quality crate locks and, ya know, wouldn't be rotting in space for 100+ years.
Spoiler:
Or we could just remove the locks all together

It doesn't take that many KA shots to get the crate open

Make the anti-tamper mechanism actually go off when it's tampered with
make the puzzle less fuckin' obtuse so it's reasonable for people to actually be expected to solve it if they want the loot
make the loot actually worth solving that fuckin' puzzle :v

This, this, and this.
Take the "guess the number" puzzle from goon, easy as fuck and cant do it without a multi tool

We had that and went to 'guess the 4 digit code' but 10 tries without anyway to know which number is correct without burning one of your 10 tries up... hue.

It's literally a mastermind puzzle. An easy mastermind puzzle at that. One where each digit is unique.
tbh the only thing I'd do to change that puzzle is make the multitool read out the last guess along with the correct digits readout so you don't have to keep a notepad open to track them.
If you can't crack one of those in seven guesses or less you need to git gud, "burning one of your 10 tries" is inconsequential.

To clarify, the original one I ported to Bay from goon was the Goon style lock, where any tampering would make it blow the fuck up, and you only had 3 tries. 10 tries was a stupid thing quilty/allura/whatever the fuck they're using as a name now added that made it too easy

Digits are not unique last I played one. 2238 and 1989 have both been valid answers when I played. If each number could only be used once it'd be super easy.
