(Poll) Telescopic batons replacing flashes for heads
So here's what I wanted to do.
I have bay's batons already ported, but I was wondering how they should function. Bay uses them as a replacement for flashes for heads of staff, as in most heads of staff carry a telescopic baton for self defense/department intruders and it has a 4 tick weaken time, which is like, less than half stun baton time. However, it's incredibly robust against non-human/silicon mobs like aliens and stuff, doing 15 force, but this is how I planned to implement it here:
Telebaton will do 10 damage (seclite damage) to all mobs but also have a short weaken time, making it perfect for self defense and a viable replacement for flashes for the CE/CMO/RD. The other heads have e-guns/stun batons but will probably get one of these in their lockers to replace their flash for the hell of it. The RD will keep a flash in his office for rogue borgs, as well as his laser pointer which people seriously need to start using against rogue borgs it's robust as fuck.
I like the idea personally of heads having a small baton for warding off intruders or hostiles when sec isn't around, and most of the time the flash they get just doesn't cut it.
Tell me if you like my idea, or if you have your own idea for how this should function, I'd love to hear it. The assets and code all exist already so it's really just a matter of value editing. One thing I have an issue with is the ability to indefinitely chainstun since the baton requires no battery, so I might force RR to code for me make the weaken effect on the baton high % RNG rather than 100% weaken every hit.

What if you make it similar to disarm/harmbatons? So it's weaken (And low damage?) on disarm intent, but no stun and (high) damage on harm intent.
What if you give all heads of staff a disabler?

The disabler option sounds almost more fun.

isn't this basically just a police baton, that you can put into your pocket when not using? Either way, sounds neat, although it's nice having a flash to deal with borgs.

Disablers really are underutilized - They're three hits to a stun, but with slowdown per hit and a longer total incapacitation time. They still lose to taser/egun one hit stuns, but they're excellent as a low-grade plebgun that you give to people who could use a gun but shouldn't have a real gun. They're also great as a sidearm, for when your taser/egun is out of ammo.

Someone's been playing Watch_Dogs.
I'd love to see this implemented, but disablers sounds pretty cool anyway. The issue I'd have with the latter is that it takes away something that I've seen cargo do more.

Right now though, the only way to get disablers at all is through Cargo. Gear exclusivity, especially with low-power or non-unique items is bad.Stickymayhem wrote:Someone's been playing Watch_Dogs.

In my opinion, giving them disablers would just make me view them as babysitters with tranquilizer guns. I feel like a baton would represent a symbol of authority more.

Re: (Poll) Telescopic batons replacing flashes for heads
What if we gave them each a Chain of Command?

Re: (Poll) Telescopic batons replacing flashes for heads
I wouldn't mind that. I think the only real issue here is that flash needs to be replaced with something more robust and commanding.

Re: (Poll) Telescopic batons replacing flashes for heads
I really like the idea of the heads of staff whipping out their tele baton when revs are called and fighting their way to sec, regardless of their department.
Also I have been playing watch_dogs but playing it made me realize that baystation has had this forever and it's totally something we need to do. The only problem I'm having is with the damage, should it do damage at all? Baystation's is a simple 4-tick knockdown rather than something to be pilfered for its uber robust pseudo stun baton capabilities. I can make it do damage only on harm mode and do none/less on help/disarm like psy suggested, but it probably won't do more damage than the seclite which is a 10 hit crit (10 force)

Damage on harm intent only. It should still be comparable to a flash so heads don't have to physically abuse their subordinates to get them out of their office.

Love the idea. Also will happily play Watch_Dogs and the CtOS mobile app with any of you!

Make it spawn in all heads pockets/backpack, not in their gear.miggles wrote:Damage on harm intent only. It should still be comparable to a flash so heads don't have to physically abuse their subordinates to get them out of their office.

Both of these are done. THE ULTIMATE QUESTION: Should the QM get one?Psyentific wrote:Make it spawn in all heads pockets/backpack, not in their gear.miggles wrote:Damage on harm intent only. QM is just as much of a head as the CMO.

QM should NOT get one, holy shit fuck no. QM is not a fucking head at all, and it will only be misused.

I'm only joking. This has been merged.
