People would gib themselves with it to prevent capture by antags. Remember that this was removed because of powergamers.

Basically, suicide with an oxygen tank would have your character suck in oxygen until they explode, gibbing them.
The meme was that everyone would run to the HoP line and kill themselves with the round start internals.

It was silly.

Well, make the suicide only work with the large tanks and instead of gibbing just husk the corpse and spray blood and skin-sprite gibs everywhere.

Losing items from explosions was stupid. Right now it only happens if you die from it (me thinks) but otherwise it was moronic.

Oh yeah it was fucking awful for shaft miners. For a while if gibtonite got triggered you either ran away as fast as you could in the opposite direction or it blew off your hardsuit and killed you.

Additionally, it had a nasty habit of deleting items *inside* your items: so your ID would be gone from your PDA, and the power cell in your lasgun would be gone, but the items that held them were fine. It was the shittest of shit things.
