This is gonna be an "old man shakes fists at clouds" rant but it literally made me full awake after being half asleep because of the realisation.

Let's take YouTube as an example.
Maybe it is because I saw it out of the eye of a child back then, but Technology was as it's peak Soul back then. YouTubers spawned in every third bedroom in the USA (and around the world really), using whatever technology was available. Shitty PCs, Unregistered bandicams, and windows XP or some shit like that. They used whatever they had and made it work. And it generated SOUL. Remember the early PewDiePie let's plays? SOUL. My favourite example is Nightcore. It's like time in a bottle. I love it. Internet was kinda new back then so I just watched whatever my brother watched. TG was in it's baby boots.
Nowadays everyone and their fucking mother has some kind of gaming PC, innovation on YouTube has died and everyone uses the most recent apps. Where have my fucking bandicams gone? YouTube Germany was funny as hell back then but now everything that is getting produced is either the same content by the same people as back then in 15th iteration or straight up brain rot.

Let's take games as an example.
10-15 years ago games could actually still score points by looking good or less good than others. The level of detail gave SOUL.
Nowadays everything looks the same on my 8k LGBTQ+ TV because you can't get much more real than we already have and if you try you're a moron.

Speaking of it: Technology in general.
10-15 years ago I had my lil phone with a physical keyboard. cool as shit right? Nowadays the only thing they do is take up more space in my pocket and cost more.
PSP and Wii U were both absolute units of portable consoles. We don't need portable consoles anymore because we can play every game we can imagine on our phones. Big aura loss. The only portable console that plays current year games as acceptable graphics levels is the Steam deck.
Back then I barely had Internet and siphoned Internet time from my brothers screen. I watched YouTube with him back then on his lil shitty laptop, he showed me my first non mainstream animes. On YouTube by the way with banners on the side to avoid strikes. SOUL. Nowadays I can just find porn in 4k on YouTube and they don't care at all. I can find literal whole animes. I also have Internet access for some reason. Weird.
He also showed me roleplaying games and forums (I didn't really like them back then though), he showed me a lotta shit with soul really. I don't feel the urge to show anything that's posted on youtube to anyone nowadays. It's all just the same shit but I derailed.
Where have my HD monitors gone? I want 2012 back. I hate it in current year.
