#coding-general

Post by EuSouAFazenda » #743089

We're fresh off the Wallening and a lot of discussion has been had about what could have been done differently. Notably there's been a conversation in #mantainerbus about admins not interfering on the moderation of #coding-general, leaving it to the mantainers to do so. Mantainer opinion on this has been split: Some want more admin moderation, others want only in extreme cases like NSFW or gore posts.

Candidates, where do y'all stand on this? Would y'all push for more admin moderation in #coding-general or keeping things as is? What are the perspectives?
Obviously a lot of this involves talking with the mantainers and mediating between your opinion and theirs but for the sake of this argument assume the head coders gave it to you to make the call. What would you do? [How you would go about mediating and negotiating your opinion is welcome but not the main focus of the question]

i've already stated my stance on this in our moderation channels and i guess i'll repeat it here. if i see people starting a little fire and then taking turns throwing fuel onto it while they blame the other side for making the fire worse, i'm going to come in, piss their fire out, and take away their lighter fluid until they figure out how to use it in a way that doesn't result in the whole house burnt down.

If I had total control over the situation I'd have the admin team take care of administrating the discord and also have a small group of admins handle Pull Request Public Relations (PRPR) under the supervision of a codermin or some other interested maint.

My stance is that the coding team should resolve internally on their own and in their own time, and the admin team should offer them as much support as they are willing to take.
