I would like a more viceral combat system
I think it would be cool if our combat lead to graphic outcomes. We have a few harsh elements, disemboweling and cranial fisures, but these only work if the target is in hardcrit/dead. Wounds are nice, but I think the lack of variety and effects leave alot to be desired.

Visceral how, this is a 2D game with very small sprites and very small detail on a given player character sprite.

Description mostly. It would also be cool to have it feel different after being shot up or stabbed up or bludgeoned up.NecromancerAnne wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 1:06 pm Visceral how, this is a 2D game with very small sprites and very small detail on a given player character sprite.
Again, wounds adds alot in this direction but it doesn’t really do it for me.
Simulation of damage to fat and muscle layers would do alot I think. Tendons and artieries would be sick as well.

Re: I would like a more viceral combat system
I've long wanted a more complex health system, a system somewhere between baymed and /tg/med - and in fact I've been working on one for another project - but it's al ways seemed that most of the /tg/ playerbase prefers the fast paced, fast treatment of the current system.
Every time mechanics are added that punish people for fighting to encourage grittier combat, they're not usually liked.
I mean I think even wounds are still mildly controversial years after being added - I seem to remember one of the "/tg/ but good" offshoots removed them first thing.
Adding even more wound variety, or maybe a pain system, is very possible - and very easy - but I can't imagine would be popular.

Re: I would like a more viceral combat system
I think the key to adding more "visceral" injury experiences is to not make them put people in medbay longer or require much more specialised treatment? I know they generally go hand-in-hand, but I do wonder if we could explore seperating "You can get totally fucked up in a fight" from "you will spend the rest of the round being medically neglected or ignored unless one of the few people who really jive with the details of medical are online".
(Also if they cant be field-treated it creates more incentive to go to medical instead of just stealing a medkit and ignoring blueland)

I'm honestly tempted to do this more often just to see you screech and writhe more, but that wouldn't be cool of me. So come on haters, show me some more of your high blood pressure please.![]()

I think testing melberts pain system would be a fun thing to do on tg, but I just like more grittier combat

Give the chef a potato peeler and add skinless limb variants for humans. Other races dont get em cause scales/fur are incompatible with the concept of a potato peeler and plasmamen dont do the whole skin thing

Re: I would like a more viceral combat system
I would like a better wound and injury system for sure but the issue is tg med players tend to either be new players or burnt out players so sometimes it takes forever to get someone to realize the reason you’ve been unconscious for the half hour is due to low blood.

Not looking to advertise but Daedalus Dock might have what you're looking for. Something between Bay and TGmed, has pain, etc. : )mrmelbert wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 5:40 pm I've long wanted a more complex health system, a system somewhere between baymed and /tg/med - and in fact I've been working on one for another project - but it's al ways seemed that most of the /tg/ playerbase prefers the fast paced, fast treatment of the current system.

Not super sure what you meant but I really hope I didn't come off as calling for Melbert to work on DD hahaha; I've got nothing to do with it. I think codebases working off of eachother or sharing features is cool, though.
