Why should this appeal be accepted?: For what I did, which was a dumb joke where I sent a link to rule34 through a Captain's announcement and then said "wait this isn't google", I think a permaban way too harsh a punishment. While sending a link to rule34 through a Captain's announcement on the comms console is very obviously a pretty boneheaded move that wasn't worth the laugh it got and definitely, DEFINITELY wasn't following IC rules (I'm sure that it's not a website an NT employee might find on their PDA), I don't think it warrants an instant permaban for being explicit. It wasn't like I ruined the fun of the round for anyone, griefed or did anything malicious. It wasn't a link to some nasty, gross specific post or anything, just the website itself. (I'm pretty sure the dumb link I sent takes you to the posts page.) Also, it's not like it was straight-up explicit - it wasn't as if I somehow sent an NSFW image in chat, which would have everyone in the server unwillingly see NSFW. To somehow be exposed to NSFW, it would also be of one's own volition to tab out of byond, open their browser and type in the announcement letter for letter. If I said "porn", on comms, I'm sure I wouldn't have been banned, despite that being just as "explicit" as what I sent, though that would not also break IC rules.

Yapping over, all I can do is genuinely apologize for being a goofball, promise to be on good boy behaviour from this point forward and pray to our sweet lord in Heaven that the admins be merciful. I haven't been a regular on TG for very long, but it's the only ss13 server that I find to be genuinely fun to play on and be filled with fun players. I'd hate to have my time with this game end so soon. I didn't do anything malicious and I'd be very grateful to see my ban at least reduced to... well, not eternity, at least.

hey, thanks for appealing. part of why this was a perma was that you were offline by the time i was addressing it, and wanted to hear an explanation to what would possess somebody to post an IRL porn website over a command console.

8. Erotic/creepy stuff is not allowed.
No form of erotic roleplay is allowed on the servers, including things that could be construed as sexual by unwilling participants.

people aren't here to be exposed to hardcore pornography, and some people genuinely don't have the braincells to question putting links into their browsers if they see a player post them - this was how you presented your link. warning: obviously this is a link to a porn website, i can't be assed to censor it because people reading this thread should know what it is by the thread contents.

your presentation did not forewarn of what the link was, and even if you had, i don't think it would have been appropriate for both the reasons above and the other part of why you were banned - rule 3.

Keep IC out of OOC, and OOC out of IC. Your words and actions ingame should be distinguishable as an in-universe character, and not as a person playing a game. 

you could have avoided both of these pitfalls if you had applied your judgement to make this in-universe by doing something silly like pasting a fake link to "tirizan.scalespreading.nanotrasen.org.gov" or some other similarly shockvalue inducing joke. you were just noted the day prior for OOC in IC, and i would like to take this chance to firmly remind you that this is a roleplaying game where people are here to immerse in a silly universe where a dystopian corporation feels it necessary to employ clowns and mimes aboard their state of the art research facilities - i am positive you can come up with ways that fit into this setting to execute the style of goofiness that you're looking to go for without linking it (in this case literally) to OOC concepts.

in your appeal above, i think you pushing the blame onto the people who would need to copy/paste the link into your browser is minimizing and deflecting of your own responsibility for your actions, and speaks to a lack of comprehension of why what you did had consequences. all of that said, i'm still going to be lifting the permanent part of this ban and will be lowering it to a week instead, and warn you against posting any kind of links ingame, particularly ones like this ever again.
