Ban type: Note
Ban length: Note
Ban reason: As a changeling, used a bomb suit and a TTV on the backpack to make the TTV reusable (they don't break on detonation like this), I have asked them to not do this again as we collectively felt this was an exploit, and unless someone says otherwise, have asked them not to repeat this combination to get infinite TTV uses
Time ban was placed: 2024-06-05 16:39:15
Server you were playing on when banned: Terry
Round ID in which ban was placed: 230038
Your side of the story:well i was changeling which using ttvs as backpack with cable coil and explode around and then revive, fatalx told me ttv supposed to delete after i use them once and its exploit to use them like this,i told him im sure this isnt exploit and feature but he said he wont waste his time with checking code or something like that,as admin its your job to be sure about things before banning people, recently i realised ttvs not deleting when i use them on hand too so this wasnt exploit but i have note for this because admin didnt do his job correctly
References of good conduct:-
Anything else we should know:here picture of ttv not deleting even if you use it on hand https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... d329214f43&

To provide a maintainer opinion; there is no intended in-game way for a TTV to explode and then you still have it afterwards (as is the case with all bombs, as you would logically conclude due to the fact that it exploded).
I would also note that this precise method of maintaining a bomb post-explosion is currently reported on github as a bug, which it is.

Re: [Fatalx1] - Note for exploit without checking code
I can confirm that this was reported as a bug on our Github on June 8th by (of all people) FatalX1. However, this was reported after the note in question.
https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/issues/83813
This note is well within expectation for bug abuse; we regularly give people notes if they are caught abusing a bug. There have been instances where we have not noted individuals who aren't aware what they're doing is a bug, but to speculate if that was the case in this situation would be a matter for the peanut thread.

Re: [Fatalx1] - Note for exploit without checking code
Yeah, I'm not sure where to start with this one
Firstly, I did check this by exploding a TTV in my hand (one of your TTVs after the round had ended, I believe), and I couldn't find it, so we figured this was a bug that having it on your back didn't delete it
All the other admins at the time felt this was an exploit (given you were a changeling and suicide bombing, turning the station into nothingness re-using the same TTV, we felt this was not intended)
And yes, I couldn't find this as a bug on the github so I made a bug report (I actually forgot I did that), just because something isn't already listed as a bug in github, doesn't make it..not a bug
A maintainer has contributed to this and confirmed that there should be NO WAY to reuse a TTV and that what you did was an exploit, not a feature
Also, claiming I wasn't doing my job correctly because I didn't check the code? There's no requirement for admins to look at the code and understand the full complexities of the code, we are expected some knowledge of it because that comes with the job, but as I said in the ticket, you want me to open the entire bomb code and trawl through it..?
It was an exploit, others have confirmed it was an exploit, so as far as I'm concerned, this note is fine as is and I see no reason to remove it (unless you would like some tweaking to the wording, but it seems pretty factual to me)
