Trialmin Review: Xzero314

Post by dragomagol » #731814

Xzero314 has now been in the .txt as a Trial Admin for roughly two months.

Please use this thread as public review; it's encouraged for players to comment on how well/badly the trial admin has done and whether or not they think the trial admin should be made a full admin, if they should be removed from the .txt or if their promotion should be delayed.

Xzero314 has shaped to be really fun and thoughtful admin.
He is the main heretic watcher and injects them in often, along with other silly things he learns.

In our admin bus, he is understanding what the role of admin is, that we nurture and provide stability and guidance to rounds and I see him questioning her tickets to others and learning from the general consensus. I am always happy to help him as I see him form his own thoughts.

:+1: immediately. Xzero's been a gem.

Active, friendly and understanding in tickets, demonstrates investigative rigor alongside the intuition he's gained by a deep knowledge of playing all roles (nevermind command, sec, and antag - one of Manuel's best AIs and deeply familiar with the nuance of silicon policy. i admire anyone who can stand to have :b on their list of channels.) plays regularly alongside his adminning,

he has a deep sense of fairness and regularly seeks out feedback on tricky or unfamiliar cases to better understand where a player might be coming from to get the best ruling.

also, presses buttons! can be trusted with the aux and to keep things interesting as a GM. spreads the love by going to other servers that could use it, even if his home is on manny, and seems to make a good impact in the larger community wherever i see him.

fullmin he or riot

Chill dude, great admin. Has one of the best qualities in knowing when to ask for help from the rest of the team and then learning from said help to provide it themselves when someone else asks. Collects advice and makes good calls based on it. The easiest +1.

Being very biased, I am incredibly proud of Xzero and their time here. They're a great admin, fun to be around, a great learner, and I look forward to seeing them in a game admin position.

Stubborn to a point that it is difficult and wholly unenjoyable to interact with them in any adminbus discussion. Disagreement and argument allows for the team to improve their reasoning on stances, but repeatedly stating the same argument even while facing evidence that the rules state directly contrary to any specific stance isn't constructive, and I feel like I'm speaking to a brick wall.

-1. The admin team survives on interaction, cohesion, and mutual understanding. I do not feel like I have any with xzero when they choose to disagree with the rules and stick to that for seemingly-arbitrary decisions, and I'm genuinely worried about the potential for fairly extreme differences in potential rulings applied via their administration ingame.

Id like to address this . I don't often assert myself strongly on my opinions out of fear of coming across as argumentative and stubborn like you pointed out. I have been accused of "always having to be right" in the past and its still something I strive to improve on each day. The last couple of days there have been silicon debates and debates over staying in ones lane. Both are issues I am passionate about. I consider myself both a player and an admin and I do not think I should say nothing when I disagree with a ruling. In the couple of instances I have stood my ground on something, I have not been dismissive of opposing opinions. I have a lot of respect for my peers and their thoughts on the rules. You can also view my ticket history and will see a recent situation I handled that by coincidence was very relevant to an argument I stood my ground on the previous day. I do think you going as far as saying you hope I am banned over that argument was hurtful and counter to your point of us working on mutual understanding. That does go both ways after all. In both the recent arguments which I believe stocked this criticism I do not think I was unbending. Though I likely failed to properly make that known. I will take this to heart and make sure I am making it more clear that my disagreement is not meant to be an attack of any sort and that I am absolutely considering your arguments.

I have experienced nothing but the opposite and I've appreciated their willingness to engage in tough conversations with the team. I've witnessed them change their mind half way through a discussion when faced with new information. I haven't found their contributions to be generally any more stubborn than what I see from the plenty of admins we have that roleplay as brick walls. I'd rather their potentially incorrect takes to be shared and discussed than kept to themself and I feel like that's happened. If it ever comes to a focal point of disagreement, we have head admins to resolve this. A problem exists if they are unwilling to bend to head admins, not you. Both yours' and theirs' and my own opinions on the rules are of equal value.

We have had disagreements that have resulted in headmins having to act, this isn't new. Yes, they can get heated, but this isn't a reason to reject a person completely.

Also can you actually say that when we have had bans or notes reversed by headmin decision because the admin applied the policy incorrectly and yet the admin kept their rank?
