Re: Rhythm Games!
About six or seven years ago I used to play osu with my nephew. Starting out I had a lot of trouble finding beatmaps what I was actually able to complete. The only beatmap I was actually good at was the Super Mario Galaxy Egg Planet one. I've just tried it again and I still got it

Re: Rhythm Games!
I played rhythm games for around six years on and off. I tried multiple different games but I only played osu! seriously.
Like most people I started with the standard mode and played that for around a year. Never really got too far as I immediately got skill gapped by streaming. After that I tried the taiko mode and ended up enjoying it, so I decided to stick with it.
And I was actually good! I think my highest global position was around 4-3k. Last time I checked I still have a few top ten scores too.
However, what WASN'T good was the bad habits I developed while playing. I had really poor wrist placement due to space issues and I pressed the keys far too hard. I experienced many minor cases of RSI and eventually I developed this in my left hand. It was around this time I decided "This probably isn't worth it" so I stopped playing. I could've tried fixing my bad habits but fighting five years of muscle memory is hard. Luckily this was around the time I started getting into fighting games, so it was easy to make the switch.

Re: Rhythm Games!
Been playing Miku's Colorful Stage. As far as gachas go, it doesn't feel terribly predatory, as you can play most of the songs on offer right out the gate.
Beatmania is my real fucking jam, but I'm hard stuck at Lvl 6.
Does there come a point in any Rhythm Game career where you realize your choices are to either stay bad, or to give yourself carpal tunnel or some other horrible hand condition while trying to get gud?

Re: Rhythm Games!
Most of the Gacha rhythm games are actually pretty good in this regard, theres a lot of mobile rhythm games with tiny free song libraries but in the case of Gacha games as they have an alternate revenue source they can get away with all/most songs being free.
I want to get more into Beatmania/IIDX but anything with more than 6 buttons intimidates me and the only credit I've played on a cab resulted in me getting an E (but still a pass) on a level 1 song

Re: Rhythm Games!
sound voltex fried my brain and I cried so hard in the arcade when Mom told me to go home
Eventually, I got dragged by her on the way home
didn't speak to her all the way home at the car
got so pissed at Mom that I blew my steam off at Muse Dash
then she calls
Honey dinner's ready
I eat while grumbling
got angry at Mom she pulled my ass out of the machine while I was maxing the Vampire

Eventually, Mom told me to not play it as my grades were going down so
I played MaiMai instead
They have TUYU How can I not play

DDR gave me toned feet but not a better music taste
They added I am your treasure box to the map
And whenever the fella beside me wanna "let's play this"
I leave immediately
go waste the rest of my credit
I am not touching that
The guy ended up being bullied for picking that
Mom gave me a Maimai glove for my birthday and some other thing I don't remember what's for
wow
What a great surprise
Thank you, Mom!
I am grateful to have such an understanding Mom

But for real though, Maimai is super cool (and insanely difficult) plus those gloves are NICE
