Hey gamers im back but on house arrest rn so I thought i'd ask if you guys know any games in this category! (you can recommend mods too not just standalone games) would prefer to talk about puzzle games or ones with really really obtuse mechanics or ones that nobody gives a fuck about



Confusing as in gameplay mechanics but mainly just overall atmosphere!

The nothing is weird because it has these weird pathes (left right tp down and black white etc) but it doesn't really ever explain to you how these are effected or changed. Visuals are also really nice and I like the game so much I uploaded the ost to youtube!

The lost and the wicked is only really weird in visuals and music as gameplay is generic twin stick shooter but I like it for what it is. Story is pretty basic to me personally as i've seen that kind of story overdone.

Golden light seems really confusing at first but the mechanics are pretty basic and just named weirdly. Fun game but wish the multiplayer was less buggy! Still pretty good indie game and thus again good atmosphere music and visuals.

Cookies is a very good homage to horror movies and general grossness as a whole. Weirdness comes from the references and how confusing some of the puzzles are. No indepth mechanics here though just using your good old noggin to figure out what to do next!

probably one of the best point and click game series ever created. Very very well written and i'd love to go further in depth but lores very complicated. It's inspired by twin peaks like most stuff is nowadays.

Harvester is not something people actually play, they know about it or watch someone else play because of how stupid the puzzles are and the last section of the game is utterly fucking horrid as they did not get to finish/balance it fully. but everything that is there is gold and peak. my tip is to try reading all the cards (when you click on them) and all the empty slots to see what does what, and to only look up things if you get really stuck

I am a huge cultist sim fan (you might know this from my discord pfp) - I even went to the in-person escape room thingy.

For maximum fun you need to have a notebook and pen to write things down while playing it.

I saw one of my friends play this game and I think the visual abortion that it has for a style actually gave me a migraine.

I think wayward terrain frontier makes this list, I didnt have an issue with the game but alot of the complaints on steam usually involved this stuff or bugs.

Mainly just because the flight controls are quite different from most top down 2d spaceship games (infact its actually better when you get the hang of it)

Also because it literally throws you into a sandbox and only really attempts to direct you to the grinding parts of the gameplay loop. There is a big questline and a lot of side missions but all of it needs to be somewhat stumbled upon which is "natural" but not something most players instantly get used to. (imagine starsector but with a main questline that somewhat gated you from stuff)

Theres alot of other stuff to learn like the stuff involved with ship designing but thats a more natural learning curve to have in a game rather than the stuff that most people will need to adjust to.

Its an otherwise really good game but the things that it does to set itself apart from other games and actually arguably makes it better as a game has harmed its popularity since most people are used to the mainstream formulas and hand holding.
