So i'm enjoying this game

but how the fuck does peer fortress work

does it just tank hits for characters by itself? do i have to have it set to defend? WHY IS NONE OF THIS INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET

yeah I've played through starsector a few times but the late game tends to bore me so I havent gotten to the whole "nuke everybody" phase and always quit before that
