Scorched Horizon (desert planet) - Map idea
Kastazir is a rocky high desert planet located on the fringes of known space. The planet is blanketed in a perpetual dust storms, making it a dangerous and inhospitable environment for those brave enough to explore it. The planet was once the site of an NT Corporation terraforming project, but it failed miserably, leaving the colony in ruins. Now, a new outpost has been established on Kastazir in hopes of avoiding the attention of the syndicate and allowing research to be conducted in peace. Despite the danger, the planet still holds many secrets and promises adventure for those willing to take the risk.
The new map presents a number of dangers to its inhabitants, ranging from the dangerous dust storms to the hostile locals that may inhabit the previous abandoned colony.
If the windows of the outpost or NT station are broken, the dust can leak inside, causing further harm to the inhabitants. The dust can cause fast lung and organ damage, so it is important to take proper precautions and ensure that all windows and doors are sealed properly.
The map itself features a number of interesting and unique features, including a sprawling desert landscape, hidden caves, and abandoned structures. Players will have to explore these areas to find resources and uncover secrets. Additionally, players will have to make use of the various terrain features, such as rocks, sand, and dunes, to traverse the environment and stay safe.
Beneath the surface of Kastazir lies a vast and treacherous cave system filled with minerals and ore. These caves are home to a number of dangerous alien creatures, such as giant scorpions and mutated slimes. The cave system is also home to the mysterious and powerful artifacts of a lost civilization. (can be expanded on later)
The map will feature an expansive Z-level layout instead of a bunch of up and down with the "lavaland" being a massive single level cave and the surface is like og space but with gravity and ground surface, with rocky buttes and mutated cactus breaking up the flat landscape, open pits that drop people down to the caves under.
I forgot to mention but we could use the station night shift code to make a day/night cycle with that brings in temperature management with extremes based on time of day.

Re: Scorched Horizon (desert planet) - Map idea
We need a hot map. We've needed a hot map this entire time. I am tired of cold spreading through the station when there are breaches or someone leaves an airlock open. It needs to be heat now. I need to drag space heaters around to cool things.
How's my administrating? Call 1-800-RADBURY

Re: Scorched Horizon (desert planet) - Map idea
It would be interesting if it was just a bit "uncomfortable" almost burning and then random heat waves can trigger pushing into damage except for people wearing fire suits or explore suits that have a battery cooling unit? Could be resprited space suits or something.

I like how this idea is shaping up!nianjiilical wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:07 pm
put it in a big crater like the doom base to justify having walls around the main z-level
Now if only we could have proper day/night cycles with multiple weather events

Re: Scorched Horizon (desert planet) - Map idea
build it in a crater because the shadows of the crater keep it from getting so hot that it melts everything. that way we can have heat cycles for when the sun goes directly overhead and the cold shadows become HOT SPICY SUNLANDSnianjiilical wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:07 pm

Could give a reason why crew can be outside for a short time with no cold suit with the crater idea
Would be funny if people needed to drink water to survive outside or it gave you a good moodlet if it was chilled.

Re: Scorched Horizon (desert planet) - Map idea
I mean yea, that would be cool. We would need clothing, or something. The atmosphere is breathable and all you have to worry about is the heat. When its night time it gets cold, not enough to kill you just enough to make you slower. You know how icebox and lavaland have storms? Well I thought about 2 things, either Sandstorm or like a Firestorm. Maybe fire storm is rare or something, but when in a fire storm after prolonged exposure it would light you on fire. Tired of just icebox and meta and all that closest thing we got to a new fresh map is birdshot (which is shit).JusticeGoat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:52 am Now if only we could have proper day/night cycles with multiple weather events
