Handling stress during your term

Post by MortoSasye » #611773

Being a head admin is a very stressful job as you all must certainly know.

What techniques would you employ to manage the task without burning out as fast?

I have the best friends in the world to talk to, admins and players alike. I've managed stress by shooting the shit with people to ground myself.

Headmin burnout is a real issue, but I feel being an extremely active maintainer for about a year has helped prepare me for it.

I play as hard as I work. Be it ss13, working out, playing the guitar... I always do stuff that helps me destress and stay fresh!

A healthy life-game balance is super important. It's an oft-repeated joke, but I find that even just spending time outside really improves my mood. I've also been having a lot of fun playing non-SS13 games and talking with friends to manage my stress.

I don't really get stressed out about game stuff, sure I get excited but nothing has lead me to abandon the game or community after 8 years here. I think just being around a long time makes you take the short term crazy stuff less hard.

My first headmin term helped a lot with me getting lessed stressed over drama, Kor was a big part of helping me chill out back in ancient history (and a different timeline legally distinct from this one we're in now)

I'm lucky to have a happy comfortable existence with people I care about

Knowing that it's only for a term is one of the firm things I can stand on if it becomes overwhelming. I've got good friends and I can relax at the drop of a hat.
