Your side of the story: As the warden of this round, I do what any normal warden does and browse the cameras from the brig's console. Fastforward a few minutes into the shift, and the HoS screams that he's being murdered in dorms over comms. I peek over on the comms console, sure enough, he's being murdered by a changeling and a heretic HOP. I scream as much on sec radio, then I check cams one last time before I head over to the dorms to apprehend the ling. I see an individual named Zander with what is obviously (to me) an armblade, and I see him use it on someone then run away. I make a mental note of this, then rush down to dorms to assist the sec officers already there. I spot the actual, for-real changeling on the way and attempt to stun him with my baton. He doesn't go down. I assume he might be a hulk or has adrenals or something, say as much over sec comms, then rush over to armory and grab a lasgun. As I am about to enter the main hallway loop, I spot Zander, the fake-ling. I take notice of his green hulk skin and have a small "oh shit" moment, back up, and shoot him with my lasgun until I hear deathgasp. I take his body back to the brig, cuff it (because I assumed he was a for-real ling) and stripped his clothes off, seeing if any of them were flesh disguise clothes. When they're revealed to be just normal clothes, I start asking if Zander had attacked anyone on comms several times. I never got a straight answer. SO I ordered a seccie who had just come back to the brig to (bear with me on this one) take him to the crematorium (hold on) and see if he came back to life, and if he didn't then to take him to medbay. I told him to do this so that I could search upper arrivals and maints to find the heretic HOP. Unfortunately, around this time, I had to leave for personal reasons and didn't have time to ahelp staff. As for the foam armblade in the backpack, that possibility didn't even enter my mind. I forgot foamblades existed that round.
Why you think you should be unbanned: While the ban reason isn't inaccurate, it fails to capture the context of the situation, which would explain why I acted like I did. In calmer situations in which my ingame boss wasn't getting murdered and the heretic HOP didn't have an all-access pass to the brig, I would have handled this situation much more reasonably. I jumped the gun because I did not want to get owned by yet another hulk-ling, and in that adrenaline-fueled state I made a mistake that cost a player his life. However, I do not believe a dayban is necessary, as I at least ATTEMPTED to bring the player back into the round and my reasoning for taking his life was not that far-fetched.
