Trialmin Review: Plapatin
Plapatin has now been in the .txt as a Trial Admin for roughly two months.
Please use this thread as public review; it's encouraged for players to comment on how well/badly the trial admin has done and whether or not they think the trial admin should be made a full admin, if they should be removed from the .txt or if their promotion should be delayed.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
literally vanished with no warning and cut connections and hasn't come back, whatever the reason it was so childish that it's clear he isn't fit to be an admin
edit: oh he finally appeared back when it was time for review, still really bad form
edit2: the content of his administration was fine from what i knew prior to the unknown *poof* where not even the headmins (apparently) could contact him

So, he vanished with no warning and I assume no reason. We know what that means:lmwevil wrote:literally vanished with no warning and cut connections and hasn't come back, whatever the reason it was so childish that it's clear he isn't fit to be an admin
dipshit alert! i hope he fucking loses his lunch money holy crap im gonna go fucking UGH I JUST FUCKING HATE THIS CHILD-ASS-MOTHERFUCKA ADMEME
lmwevil, you need to explain your thought process to me here. How is vanishing childish? It's a bit rude but not childish imo. How is the headmins not being able to contact you childish when, from past experience with a different set of headmins, some tried to contact me once and they gave up at the first sign of resistance.
like literally leave your criticism at "rarely plays" since that will mean more than going "rarely plays and here's why he's petty for that"

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
it's rather the fact that he left the discord, severed all communication and the only way we could find out what the hell was going on was incidental through a minecraft server - if you have irl problems sure, take a break but it takes no effort to say 'i'll be back later'. there are more mature methods of dealing with whatever went on with him than making people worry and in general being really fucking confusing, and that's my main problem.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
I think plapatin is a good admin in game, and connects very well with the players (Which makes a more fun experience for everyone).
Specifically plays good midis/sounds, and I've seen some funny interactions via prayers. Also seems to have a handle on the enforcement side of things.
With that being said I can't say I'm a particular fan of the leaving without saying anything, something that has happened twice so far. Its perfectly fine to take a break, and admins do it all the time; but its important to just let someone know you are taking that break.
Failure to communicate this leaves me having doubts about what would happen in more extreme circumstances. If there's some admin complaint, or appeal, it would be nice to have some communication that an admin is just taking a vacation and will be able to handle it in a few days.
Rather than having know idea what they are up to and when said complaint/appeal would be handled. I think a long extension would be fair, just as re-assurance that Plapatin will be able to handle any absences more appropriately in the future.
tl;dr
Plapatin is a good admin in game, and makes the server better with his presence. However, I feel I need to be re-assured he will be better communicating going forward.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
I absolutely love Plapatin and I think he's a wonderful person. I also don't think anyone is required to provide any explanation for anything they do. But I do think that leaving the team outright without saying a word to anyone, then coming back straight away is unprofessional at best.
Plapatin is well liked by the players and his fellow admins, I can't stress that enough. But leaving entirely without letting anyone know and then coming back is something that just doesn't speak well to someone's stability. You are not required nor obligated to tell anyone why you decide to leave or when, but when you come back after a stunt like that that's just not something I can support.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
No massive harm was done by his sudden disappearance, and I'm sure someone would only pull a vanishing act like that if they had a very good reason. It's not like he was a head administrator. We all get overwhelmed from time to time.
From what I've seen, Plapatin is a solid admin whose put a lot of time in.
If this is the biggest complaint against him, that just makes his case for a promotion.
P.S. what Qbmax said

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
It's not immature or childish to leave a community unannounced and then show up later. it is, however, a bit hurtful and makes you more apprehensive about relying on them. like, yea shit happens and you need to go take care of something or maybe you just want some alone time. It's not a big deal to leave, but it's nice to let people know you aren't trying to forget about them. Also, being an admin already carries a lot of weight socially so I would perfer we don't shit too hard on people who want their space.
In all other respects they are a fine individual and great admin. You are more than welcome to swing by our discord again and shoot the shit.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
Suffice it to say the headmins are (now) aware of why plapatin left temporarily (and no, we won't be disclosing it).
Kingtrin is pretty much on the money. Real life comes first, but it is common courtesy to let us know if you're going away. Being in discord (since it supplanted IRC) is part of the requirements of adminning so leaving without warning is very much a good way to end up deadminned, atleast until you return to the discord.
That said, there's not much value in continuing to speculate on why it happened. It is what it is and energy is better spent discussing their in game conduct at this point.

From what I've seen of him in game he's pretty capable, answering tickets and running events at the same time. I like him.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
Plap has always taken care of Sybil, even after his sudden disappearance. He's a bit more subdued and I'm not going to ask what happened, but even now he's still put more effort into Sybil adminning than anyone save for Hulk. He's still approachable, still tries to make it fun for everyone, and even though you can actively tell that he's working through some things, he's still doing a good job taking care of us. That's noticeably rare, considering some bagil-regular or terry-regular admins sometimes drop in to handle sybil and make a mess of the job since they don't understand the server's own intricacies. I can't speak more highly of Plappers, even after this absence.

Re: Trialmin Review: Plapatin
As mentioned in the thread there was a minor incident with Plapatin vanishing without warning for a little while. We don't require admins to be active at all times or anything, but if you're going to completely vanish and cut all contact for a bit we do ask you give us a heads up so we know what the situation is.
Plapatin was spoken to about this and agreed to be better about it in the future.
As he has otherwise been a good admin and agreed that it wouldn't happen again, we have decided to promote them to GameAdmin.
