Ban reason and length: Day ban - As a scientist, was awarded a hand tele by the captain, used the hand tele to break into the bridge, was chased out by the captain, when they attemped to escape they accidentally spaced themselves and were put into crit, captain ordered the HoP to take them to medbay, after they were revived they tased, killed and spaced the captain.

Your side of the story: The round begins, all is normal until Jonathan Talist signs up as Captain. Immediately, he does his gimmick where he spams outdated memes over comms for the sole purpose of being annoying. "TRAPS AREN'T GAY" etc, etc. He also names the station "TRAPS AREN'T GAY" [sic] because he's getting the reaction he wants and wants to continue it. I give him a little verbal pow wow, but it's just that, words, because I don't really care for his memes. Then, this is where this becomes a problem. He uploads a law to the AI among the lines of "Traps aren't gay, anybody who says otherwise must be brigged for five minutes and this law cannot be overridden because not following it causes human harm". I'm starting to get a little annoyed at this point, telling my friend I want to kill Talist (BUT NOT MEANING IT AT THAT POINT). This statement doesn't go out.

At the time, I was doing Xenobiology, not too far in progression due to the round only being 10 minutes or so in. Talist decides to do a little quiz with rewards. His first question I answered, and I went to the bridge to collect the reward. It was a hand teleporter. Because I, at the time, think Talist isn't the type of person to take things seriously due to his demeanor showing the direct opposite, I keep trying to use the teleporter to get onto the Bridge. Keep in mind I wasn't trying to keep this a secret, I was literally standing in front of the Bridge's windows whilst he was in the Bridge (this was on Boxstation). I managed to get a successful teleport the second time in, and get on the bridge. He immediately takes out a taser and fires at me. (I forget if there was anything between this but I do not think there was.) As reaction, I take the hand teleporter out, directly in the space wedge in between the Bridge and the hallways. I don't dare on returning to the Bridge, so I wait out the time between the next teleporter use, but it lands me in a wall between the conference room and AI upload chamber. Somehow, the tasers shoot me while I'm in the wall, so I cannot get out of the wall, and slowly fall into critical status due to oxygen loss.

While I am unconscious, Talist drags me onto the Bridge and fullstrips me. I was laying in crit for about 2 minutes before the Head of Personnel grabs me and drags me to the medical bay. Keep in mind the ban states that the Captain ordered the HoP to take me to the medbay. I was completely unaware of this and I made it clear to Gouty several times in the session that he ahelped me in. I interpreted the HoP's actions as a singular decision, because Talist had fullstripped me and left me there himself for two minutes. I return to the bridge to collect my things, telling two or three people in the radius, including the HoP, that the Captain needs to die because of his Trap gimmick going too far. I do not believe any of this was forwarded to the Captain, as everybody I was telling this to were fed up with the gimmick as well. I also took the Captain's Antique Laser, and I am unsure if this information was forwarded to the Captain, but a security officer who was around me did not make any attempt to detain me. As I was collecting my things, Talist immediately opens fire on me with the taser. I retaliate by shooting lethals. He attempts to throw three flashbangs, all which fail. Security and the HoP watch as I whoop the Captain into crit. The HoP decided enough is enough and dragged the Captain away. I didn't think that he should be allowed to continue his gimmick menace, so I tased the HoP and spaced the Captain, returning to Xenobiology. This was about the time Gouty ahelped me about this. Nobody else was harmed after this, the HoP didn't think I handled it in a good way but I told him I had no beef with him and it cleared up between us after that.


Why you think you should be unbanned: I was on a time schedule, I had to go to work in 10 minutes so I didn't really have time to explain this fully. I don't have any problem with the length of the ban, I just disagree with the reason. I will do anything to avoid this in the future, including log out when Deitus logs in to avoid his transparent attempts at ban baiting me. I still believe what I did was justified, though.

I agree, shit meme. But this shouldn't factor into it as you really could just ignore it. Yes it was designed to provoke, but ultimately that law only is only relevant if you give them the attention they oh so crave. If it was phrased "anyone who does not declare that traps aren't gay isn't human" then there would be an issue.

Nothing in our in game discussion or this subsequent appeal describes any situation where a scientist should be executing and spacing the captain.

I don't have any problem with the length of the ban, I just disagree with the reason.

He played a stupid game and won a stupid prize but wasnt happy with the prize. I see the law no different than having it as something like "Those who read WGW ARE human", its something he shouldn't be doing as a Captain. I escalated the issue too far but I wanted to do something that let him know his stupidity wasnt going to be accepted, the situation that happened prior was what actually set it in motion and ultimately lead to his death.

How would you like me to change it? Just to include the bit about the law change?

Yes and please include the fact that I wasnt aware that the Captain was the one who ordered the HoP to take me to the medbay because if I was it would definitely be a different story

Lets just compromise and remove the note since nobody ever bothered to show up and rule on his ban and he sat the time out

It is his 2nd ban in 1600 connections/one year so I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't aware of what was going on while he was in crit
