Re: Implementation (Now with 100% more democracy)
It's kind of upsetting seeing people shit on Oxford for big oxford when he has valid points.
I know that the forum discussion is essentially moot as kor and oranges will just force planetstation regardless and remove all space centered content.
I don't get the whole "the base game won't change" idea. You are literally forcing players on a timer to escape for one with your design. No more relaxed lowpop rounds past the point where the enemies get to the station, and it's time to vote restart.
Second, atmos will be completely different. There'll be no more use for hardsuits, bombs won't be making any breaches.
The gateway round end thing sounds to me like basically incoming's thing where the shuttle couldn't be called unless most everyone was dead.

Good. The game ending every 20 minutes is not fun.The gateway round end thing sounds to me like basically incoming's thing where the shuttle couldn't be called unless most everyone was dead.

The lowpop spread disable I must have missed, so that's nice to hear.
YES you are essentially removing spess content.
Saying that there'll be a derelict space station doesn't mean it'll still be there, if it's just a tiny thing that most of the round won't touch at all.

Re: Implementation (Now with 100% more democracy)
I'm going off of what Kor's been saying personally. Saying there will still be "space content" is lawyering the fuck out of what's been said. Most of the action will take place on a planetary station (fuck, it's almost like this is called "planet station") under regular attack from waves of mobs, with a fixed objective of activating a gateway in order to escape.Shadowlight213 wrote:The lowpop spread disable I must have missed, so that's nice to hear.

Why are we debating this? The Reichstag has fallen, Hindenburg is dead. Literally hitl- Er I mean planetstation is happening.
Come on it's not that bad. If it nukes the server pop wise and someone goes and makes a TGserver retro you can just play on that, if it works and is fun then it works and is fun. Either you have fun laughing a Kor and Oranges credibility for the future or you have fun playing the game.
I mean don't get me wrong I fucking despise lavaland and this is just going to be that but with bits tacked on, and I am positively throbbing at the thought of this failing so codermemes get exiled to the scorched earth, but at least wait until its coded and in playable alpha before declaring server ded.

Why do you want the people who make the content+fixes+improvements to go away? You will be left stagnant.
My guess is you don't actually want this, you just enjoy threatening (even though you have no real ability to change things) it to try and get your way.

Oh jeez, my bad, usually when somebody smashes "PERSON DESCRIPTOR" + "meme" they're referring to the person in a negative light.
So instead of reading "codermemes" as in "memes about coders" I read it as "wow fuck those codermeme people" (you know, like "memeball" for goofball)

Also hate ishyperbole on my part. I hate lavaland as much as I can hate something that exists on a 2D speaceman game, which works out as I used to play mining and now vaguely irefer the old mining to new mining, but accept that it brings in waaay more ore than old miners ever did and that some people actually like fighting the dull mobs and weird bosses for phat lewt.
In all srs bsness honestly, my 'dislike' of this stretches about as far as me just spending a bit less time on it, or avoiding mob fighting roles. Which is hardly that dramatic. I don't pay for the game and I haven't got aroumd to actually coding wgmhat I say I will.
Even If I hate it I'll still stay because the other codebases lag is painful.

To be fair, these aren't comparable.XDTM wrote:For those saying that the gateway will be the only objective, that's like saying that calling the shuttle is the crew's main goal in current SS13
The context is different, when you're on the station, things aren't shit by default, so you only call when it gets shit (Antags murdering everyone, broken station, etc.)
In a "crash landing" context, things are (ICly) -shit- by default, activating the gateway is the "way out of the shit", so given that it's A. already shit and B. prone to get worse as time goes on, there's more emphasis on getting out of it.
Atleast, that's what I believe they're getting at?

All you need to do is answer "yes" or "no". From what I understand, and based on what you have said, this is the case. The crew must actively work towards something in order to end the round. Am I wrong?Kor wrote:I have already answered this exact question from you several times. Back to the topic at hand though. If it is indeed true that the crew must actively perform a task or series of tasks in order to end the round (activating the gateway and fending off monsters), then that significantly changes the flow of the round. Currently, no action needs to be taken to end the round other than someone pushing a button. Also, as PK said, there is the potential for that kind of structure to railroad rounds onto a single path. The reason I keep going on and on about this is because Kor won't just admit that he wants to change the core of the game. He just keeps going "nuh uh" every time someone criticizes him. If Kor would just be honest about what he wants to do, I wouldn't be nearly as irritated about this as I am. I'd still disagree, but I'd respect his position a lot more.

Re: Containment Thread
I'm asking you a simple yes or no question that you've dodged every time. If you just answered the damn question I wouldn't keep asking. I think this project is wildly unrealistic, changes the core game in a way that the playerbase will not receive well, and you seem more interested in dodging criticism rather than addressing it yet. You aren't just saying "wrong" to me either, you've done the same thing to other people who have criticized your idea. If you think that means I'm calling you a "lazy lying nigger" then that's your problem. Personally, I think you're emotionally invested in an ambitious project and are taking criticism as personal insults, but that's just my impression.Kor wrote:I've spent 12 pages humouring the same questions over and over and over now and you've in aggregate called me a lazy lying nigger who wants to secretly destroy SS13 while repeating the same questions, so yes it's easier to just say "nope wrong" at this point rather than waste my time retyping the same responses.
So I'll ask one more, and all I want is a "yes" or "no" answer: Is it true that the crew must actively complete a series of tasks (powering the gateway and defending it) in order to successfully end the round? "Yes" or "no" is all I want. You can even do y or n if you really don't want to humor me.

from the design doc OPKor wrote:-The gate power on sequence would be the finale replacing the shuttle, with a final wave of monsters sent to overrun the base as people escape to centcomm. A cooldown between each person escaping could add some tension and infighting and drag it out a bit.

Here I found some posts where I said there'd be other ways to end the round (including the very first one!) is this enough for you yet. I'm giving you an immense benefit of the doubt by assuming you're simply not reading my posts rather than illiterate but I'm just going to start deleting your posts at some point because it's becoming harder and harder to believe you aren't just trolling me for giggles.
