Root vegetable tier list

Post by WineAllWine » #777237

Following an argument with some friends irl I was forced to make a root vegetable tier list, and I thought I'd share it here.

Potato is an easy S tier, it is one of the best side dishes and can be used for an unfathomable amount of dishes, it is VASTLY superior to sweet potato in terms of this range, that potato is the lowest here is CRIMINAL

Listen, I understand it's controversial opinion. But potato is only versatile because of how boring it is. A piece of plain paper is versatile, it can become the script of Hamlet, or a recipe for soup or a poem about the moon. But I'd prefer something that is just nicer on its own, and a boiled (heck, even raw) carrot is better than a boiled or (inedible — raw) potato

Wine what a horrible take. Potato is an easy s tier not just because its versatile in dishes, its S tier in how ez it is to grow, how abundant the plant is once grown, and its robust ability to be any things other than a food item. a potato can be bread, noodles, wine, etc. Potatoes also can grow anywhere with decent to mid soil. Truly a superfood. Potatoes are amazing.

Sweet potatos, while good, dont deserve s tier. they get A tier. just as good, but the sweet factor is still a tun off to some dishes. also its a yam, not a potato.

Carrots are low A while Parsnips are High B. Parsnips are generally sweeter and do better in roasts or cooked with meats, IN CONJUCTION WITH CARROTS. Parsnips are carrots younger brother by 2 years, they go great together, but carrot is still better on its own. even raw its better! Parsnips raw are not as good :(

I agree with beets and radishes being B tier, but the baby raddishes deserve a low A tier spot. they are very good when small and taste great with middle east food.

wtf is in s tier IDK what that is.

Horrid potato and sweet potato take.

The S tier is Celeriac. It is the root of a celery plant and tastes kind of the cross between a turnip and a celery.

As I said earlier, potatoes only deserve their position because of how boring they are.

Cant say anything on celeriac, but ill try it.

BUT WHAT IS BORING EXACTLY ABOUT A FOOD THAT CAN DO IT ALL?
If you are talking taste on its own, no salt, no nothing, then maybe it makes sense. id STILL put it B tier, but this is the root vegetable tier list. all boxes needs to be checked. and besides, in tomato soups, im not putting sweet potatoes or yams in it, im puttin a potato, because potatoes with tomato sauce and meat all together in a stew WTIHOUT CARROTS is probably the best thing I've ever had potatoes add that extra oomph of carbs and starch that your feeble celery cannot compare to. potato carries the culinary world on its back and yet your feeble mind fails to realize this.

My botanist wife would like to add SUNCHOKES to the list for consideration. Not only are they healthy and tasty, their blooms are very pretty.

Potatoes are S tier if you know how to cook, honestly placing them lower than A should result in a ban from every kitchen across the face of the earth.

That's the point, you can do more things with a potato than a carrot. Are you going to rate rice a C for grains also?
