I AM KINNEBIAN

Nice to meet you! This is my 2025 platform for the headmin election. Id like to go into more details, but a TLDR
of my term goals is to bring a bit of break from the drama, with a focus on events; fun, and removing/modifying awkward rulings that interrupt the flow of game-play we are all here for!

Some Promises [Things I'll try to do!]

I'll be updating this as the election goes on and questions start coming in, but I hope to do you well! Good luck, have a safe shift.

What specifically do you think is unclear about rule 11? Would you roll back the ban on "ligger", or go even further?

I have a confirmed grand total of 1 merged PR. That basically means I'm a c*der now. 8-)

Hi Ekat! I wasn't sure if It's question time yet, but everything's a bit late so I think I'm good to go.
I don't intend on rolling back the ban on "ligger", I'm quite happy with that. Its been wanting to get gone for a while and the sort of weird- semi-legal state it was in is the sort of opaqueness I really didn't like previously.
In rule 11, it states:
da rules wrote:This means rather than warning or banning for quoting a usage such as "Griff McNazi got banned for calling somebody a faggot" or even things like "nigga pls" and "what are you faggots playing" which are generally not statements made to be bigoted, we'll focus more on statements like "you talk like a [insert stereotype]" or "x is a [insert slur]".
I'd much rather we ban usage of the words entirely, using a filter. It makes things simpler to moderate and simpler to follow. The answer to "Do we allow bigoted slurs" Isn't "Mostly, NAH." Its just "No."

As for pop revitalization, I'd like to have a stable term with a large focus on keeping the game fun to play- and a sandbox roleplay environment. Things such as the minor tweaks- like I mentioned in my original post, Enabling a minor species or Tweaking some other value for a weekend or day, Letting people have fun and unique experiences. If we make the game fun, people will play. Hyper-focusing on the best ways to set up marketing campaigns, discouragement of ss14, things like that- I'm not for.

I feel like there is a very thin line between what would be considered a bigoted slur or not by some, could you please elaborate on this part? A lot of people would consider calling someone an autist or a retard bigoted (it sure is offensive, and definitely can be bigoted), but calling someone's maintenance base an autism fort, or yourself retarded for fucking up in a fabulous fashion definitely isn't. Nuance is very important here.
I'm do believe that "ligger" and all derivatives should be blanket banned because its used exclusively as a racist slur, but there's a lot of other words that some would consider to be bigoted/offensive, but often are used in non-offensive contexts/by communities they're referring to - as long as it doesn't make people uncomfortable/feel insulted, I don't think they deserve to be blanket banned.
I'd argue that the primary point of anti-bigotry rules is to make our players feel welcome and comfortable with the community knowing that bigots aren't allowed here, not to sanitize the space akin to a corporate social network.

I know I talked with oranges about this before in the TGcord; Its understandable if you didn't see it though, because it's discord.
When it comes to using the hard filter to blanket ban slurs, I'm more referring to the very extreme/common bigoted slurs, such as the N word and F*gt. I dont think theres any place for these words in a silly space game and their usage is wholly negative. I would feel more welcome and comfortable if I knew for a fact that nobody could say those things and the rules didn't awkwardly skirt around them.

Just because we cant be completely overly comprehensive in which slurs to filter, doesnt mean we shouldnt filter the most common/extreme offenders

I see. I disagree on faggot being used exclusively in an offensive context - its quite frequent to hear it in queer communities, but I can understand why you'd ban it completely. If someone is skirting around anti-bigotry rules admins always have Rule 1 to deal with them - I just hope that you'll be careful on your crusade and don't do things purely because they simplify the rules, instead of the primary goal of your changes be making the community be more friendly and welcoming.

Of course! I want to restate I'd like to be clarifying- not simplifying. A lot of the rules as written have a lot of naunce and intent behind them and I wouldn't want to disregard that. Of course we can always use rule 1 but I feel like the player experience would be genuinely better if those words werent allowed.
Friendly and Welcoming is the goal- but I'd mainly like the game to be as fun as it can. We've had a rough past term [Not through any wrongdoing on last terms part, they just got a bad hand] with a lot of drama, so I feel like a term thats more focused on community-building and core gameplay is a welcome break.

Stealing this from Rex: I'd like to trim headmin rulings as well- they really are quite outdated at this point. Its not a major thing, because theyre primarily used by admins in edge cases. If somethings outdated, its just never going to come up- removing it isn't a priority.
Additionally: A lot of the things that were promised last campaign ultimately didn't make it in. With the additional wiggle room MTO's evacuation and the calm season ahead, I think this term would be a good chance to try out light implementation of some features. Things from DrAmazing's previous thread like encouraging positive notes and antag tokens are things I've aimed for in previous elections, things like non-human heads are things that can be trialed and tested on a smaller scale- maybe using sybil? Again, I'm open to change on all these- but these are my current beliefs and I feel like it was a shame so few ideas from last term ended up happening.

Will you plan to hold mothroach shenanigan weekends, or celebrate the existing roundstart races like lizards, ethereals, plasmemes, ...humans
but most importantly moths?

Hello! I'd love to do exactly that, mainly focusing on enabling roundstart species such as jellypeople for a weekend- to let shenanigans and things happen. What would a moth festival look like, do you think? Change asmiov to mothimov for a day, serverwide moth celebration..

we gotta have a mothroach roundstart race (the simplemob, no hands, they're just a mothroach)

also mothroach nuclear ops (i guess thats not really a config change)

actually i dont know what all can get changed with configs so i dont have a lot of ideas
(also i feel like other races should get some love too)

Could be a cool idea, but a lot of this is limited because I can't make code promises on a headmin platform.
That said... Dynamic... gr...r....

Hi Rex! Well, I'm not intimately familiar with the config, so I can't say too much- But things like what I mentioned in my thread with special round-start species, a new map rotation or Non-Human Heads for a weekend or few days is a fun little event to make the week unique!

Kinnebian is a great admin. They've got energy to do great work. When I started asking around about getting infographics going they reached out to me and hit the ground running on moving with it. Unfortunately some IRL put a hold on that, but in my book that initial moxie and hustle says a lot and goes a long way.

I like movers and shakers in the community: Kinnebian is a mover and shaker, their star is rising. If you don't vote Kinneb this time I bet you'll be voting Kinneb next time.

Stealing more from newly headmin candidate Jack's thread- I think the new player VC is a great idea. Ive seen it before in DrAmazing's old thread- and I think it still holds a lot of potential. I appreciate the kind words Rave! Its definitely going to be a toughie to win this one considering how storied and well-positioned for headmin the competition is.

Update: I've actually put some thought into potentially a psuedo newsletter for the tgcord. I've made a format, and I'd be happy to run it. Even If I dont become headmin, this is something I'd like to push for.
