Last policy thread was an amazing derailment, but thank god it leads to this one. the "muh culture!!!!!" aspect of this is dumb. Yeah its been a part of TG for a along while, but at the same time, we all have moved past that mentally... hopefully. Pretty sure most of us are past 18 at this point. Plus, its not even that creative of an insult for it to be a letter swap. New host, new rules, new shift in dynamics. I say hard filter the word, and if people find shitty ways around it, like leegors, then we just blast em on a case basis.

To elaborate on this: I want it gone not because I feel some kind of offense at its existing, but because I want to encourage people who are adamant about roleplaying a speciesist character to be creative about how they do it instead of just doing "IRL racism but sci-fi".

L word is basically used as escalation bait or just veiled bigotry in 99% of cases that ive seen. Just ban it outright or add it to filter, people can be specieist more creatively than that.

It's sensible to hard filter it. It's a bad look.

The community needs to come up with something better that's not related to IRL.

Prior to the MSOver, we had 2/3 votes to remove ligger with Burger not having given his input on the topic (we hadn't asked him to weigh in since we planned to make the change after peaceful host handover, long before the MSOvering).

With Omega on the team we now have a 3/3 votes to remove it. So, it no longer has any special exceptions as a word.

It (and some common derivatives) are going to be added to the hard filter, preventing its use in all OOC and IC contexts.

I will declassify the guidance I've given to the admin team on how to handle enforcement where players filter bypass to use it below:

I'm going to conclude the policy thread on it in a mo, but we have 3/3 agreement to remove the special protection the word ligger had.

Both ligger and some variants of this word (eg liggers or ligga) will be add to the [shared] IC filter in the next day or so when an ops team member can action the request:

This is the hardest filter which will completely block usage of the word in any context.

This does not mean all attempted filter bypasses are bigoted and invoke the Wrath of SJW via Rule 11 instant permaban.

It does mean all attempts to use derived words are now filter bypasses, actionable in their own right in 100% of all instances. Where you think there was an intentional filter bypass, you can uplift any punishment placed under the below to a higher severity (verbal warning to note, note to ban, ban to longer ban, longer ban to permaban).

Attempts to filter bypass in what would have been a valid IC context (i.e. correctly applied speciesism) can be hit with a first-last-and-only warning that such words are not permitted here; with an appropriate note-history-based punishment.

Attempts to filter bypass in what would not be a valid IC context (i.e. anything that is not correctly applied speciesism) can be treated as if they had instead used the other IRL variant of that word.
