Ban reason: Said "Volcel? More like copecel!" in polcon channel.

Time ban was placed: I honestly don't remember. It was a day of many bans. Some time late 2024.

Your side of the story: If I'm being honest, I just wanted to say something to get under MSO's skin. I really didn't like that she was swinging the ban hammer left and right for even more frivolous reasons I'm sure I don't need to repeat here.

Why you think you should be unbanned: I don't feel that calling someone a 'copecel' is worthy of a permanent ban. Context is important I know, and I was deliberately trying to rustle her feathers. But MSO is gone now, and I'd like to be let back into the discord server. I very seriously doubt I will have a run in with admins or mods like this again in the future.

Heya! First, the ban reason's inaccurate; you were banned for "intentionally malicious misgendering" as a result of your posting

YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR ALL MEN YOU CRUSTY VAGINA!

I do not view calling someone a "crusty vagina" to be misgendering in the same way that I don't view calling a dude "cunt" or a chick "dickhead" or (anyone) a "(derogatory term referring to genitalia/gender/sex/etc they do not identify with)". You get the picture.

However: TGstation's policy is that we allow users to be assholes to each other within the realm of internet banter (calling people names, mocking their takes, being a little bit of a pest) within the appropriate channels while not allowing mockery of other people's personal identities, such as their sex/gender/gender identity/sexuality/race/religion/etc. Can't make fun of someone for being lgbt/straight/ace/etc, can't make fun of someone for being black/white/asian/native american/etc, can't make fun of someone for being male/female/nb/etc. Obviously as with every rule nothing's a perfect model, you're allowed to bend em a little in polcon so long as nobody's hurt or feeling cast out, et cetera et cetera but generally don't be an asshole is what we ask.

To this extent, I will ask that you avoid taking actions that make others feel like their gender identity is being mocked (or, if they say that they feel like that as a result of any posts you make, to be respectful) and state that if anyone does take those sorts of actions they'll find themselves rapidly approaching ejection from the community.
I don't think you'll have any issues following this, and so you're unbanned.


Speaking about misgendering, MSO's now using she/her/they, I believe, so it'd be appreciated if you updated your appeal. Thanks!

I actually didn't know I was banned for the 'crusty vagina' message lol...I did believe it was the for the reason I previously stated (calling MSO a Copecel was the last message I remember sending before being perma'd).

At the time they were going by "MrStonedOne". Unless we want to interpret that as "MrS toned One", at the time they identified as male. So I was simply using the pronouns that they identified with at the time.
It is not my intention to "intentionally malicious misgendering" anyone in the community, and I've always shown respect to others in that regard.

Never the less, I have updated the description of my appeal to reflect MSO's desired pronouns.

Yeah, I'm not gonna blame you for not knowing your ban reason when it wasn't communicated to you, or for being unable to predict that ~4 months in the future they'd start trying out different pronouns. You're all good!
