Your side of the story: It was round end, marines were celebrating a well earned victory, my character said a no-no word, and I was combative in the adminhelp. I honestly was pretty frustrated at the tone/persistence of the admin in question, when a simple "don't do that again or you'll be perma'ed" would have sufficed, which leaked into my responses. I personally don't like it when I feel someone is dancing around things when directness is possible.
Why you think you should be unbanned: Honestly, it was a slip of words gone too far, I had my break, and I'm ready to return if y'all are willing. I do have some notes on TGMC, but a lot of them were in response/escalation crap with other folks. In regards to this ban, I do think there needs to be a conversation of certain topics, such as the use of slurs. "Retard" and other ableist slurs are thrown as a norm, which was the slippery slope I found myself cascading down. I think if we are going to be draconian (not that I'm saying the n-word ban or variations is) about certain words, we need to limit the use of other slurs. I'm not petty nor stubborn enough to continue with what I wrote, and frankly I wrote it as a slip in my usual code-switching.
Added 5/30/24: I am including a section regarding the context of the word. While the rules are to deter bigots/racists, the way I used it was not racist or bigoted. It really is no different from saying, "What's up buds/chums/fuckers/etc". I understand there are many people who use it in bad faith, but this is clearly not one of these instances. To clarify, I am apologizing for the rulebreak, but not the usage of the word as its my lived experience.
