what if every minute or two the split personality could possess a nearby person or creature for a few seconds
jump into a body to open a door for your host
jump into a doctor and start giving CPR to your host
jump into the monster about to kill your host and divert them elsewhere
obviously they would need to be unable to just suicide the possessed person or outright kill them but i think it would be really cool
