Anyone got the hang of how the new hunger system works? My survivor is able to eat a shit ton of food up until they're engorged but becomes hungry a few hours later. I can repeat this but I'm not sure if I'm overdoing it since the system is pretty vague, and I'm not sure whether its safe to lay off food for a while and not waste it.

hunger is just how full/empty your stomach is, and is irrelevant to your required calorie intake

eat more when you are underweight, just drink water until you're full when your overweight

You have a hidden amount of calories in you and you can only tell how much based on what threshold you met (like underweight or overweight) This is what youre really managing with hunger.

Thirst on the other hand you do have to satisfy as you get thirsty or you will suffer speed debuffs and die.

Also now we have the wary mechanic which is pretty annoying and I heard its based on calorie usage. (So you can probably use it to help tell how much more you might need to eat)

The more calorie tense actions you do slowly cause your wariness to go down, low calorie usage tasks like sleeping, reading, crafting cause it to go back up

And being wary can make you extremely useless in combat.

Thankfully the waryness system shouldnt hinder you once you have an established routine of scouting, fighting, scavenging, crafting, reading, recovering/sleeping.

But weariness can contribute to your playthrough spiraling out of control when you are forced out of this cycle.
