Re: a show i really like got canceled
Lemme tell you a story.
It's a story of two amazing cartoons that were worked on by people I really admire. One was a cool racing themed adventure cartoon themed around a cyberpunk detroit fighting an evil corporate takeover, and the other was about the lives of a few programs in Tron in what basically was Tron-themed Batman Beyond.
Both of these shows were really, really cool.

Both of these shows aired on Disney Channel, which is notable because they were expensive to make, featured top of the line animation tech (even if Uprising's 3D looks a bit janky today) and amazing voice and audio talent (Motorcity had Mark Hamill), didn't appeal to the super young demographic of pre-10s most of their shit did and even featured death and other such concepts. They were made as payment for a promise for said group of people I admire after years of hard work in exchange for them to have just a couple projects they could really pour it all in - mature themes, amazing animation, good writing and action. And music.
So Disney puts them to run like after midnight for new eps. With no ads. Back to back. No merch releases either.
The shows were cancelled after their minimum contracts (1 season for Motorcity, 2 for Uprising), their continuation deals cut, and to this day we don't have the Soundtrack for Motorcity out. I emailed the composer, and he said he literally can't release it because Disney won't let it go.
I'm still upset.
On other news, two good shows for you: Banshee is a cool show that was finished a while ago by what is now the The Boys crew, and is legitimately super fun and great. Premise is some GTA tier shit about a guy that comes out of prison and ends up in a small town facing shit like Navajo biker gangs and the Amish mafia. Good shit.
The other one only has one season out, but I feel it's been critically underlooked - Gangs of London. It's like a crime story type of affair with very visceral action and a lot of people playing each other. Great shit.

Heard about that. Apparently they weren't even told ahead of time - they wrote Season 8 then got told there would be no season 8.Super Aggro Crag wrote:venture bros was the show

Re: a show i really like got canceled
I got really into the "why did it get cancelled" bit, because I love this show.
It mostly comes down to AT&T's merger with time warner, as well as a new VP over adult swim. It's not the only thing recently canceled, and if you look at what was canceled and what wasn't there's a trend that things on Hulu (owned by disney) have almost all been cancelled, while HBOmax (AT&T) stayed off the chopping block.
I'm not holding my breathe for a streaming service revive.
But yeah, FUCK. I went to their panel at dragon con a few years back and they handed out original key frames to everyone. Traded to get one of monarch in a bathrobe, then there was a second I couldn't place that ended up being from when they went into space.
