Your side of the story: The ban was based on a misunderstanding between the other engineers and I, you see, I was setting up the SM the way other players did it on other servers, I didn't know what the others were doing, so I decided to set it up myself like normal, so when they accused me of sabotaging I was really confused so I just stopped what I was doing and tried to explain myself. A couple minutes later, I'm banned for a year.

While I don't dispute this ban nor think he'll be unbanned in the next couple years at any rate I want to chime in to avoid wrong info being cited in the future by someone referencing this thread.

In the SM, siphoning is preferable to scrubbing because it doesn't discriminate between gases and removes all of them from the chamber - which you want to do, since all gases inside are hot, and you want to cool them down by running them through the cooling loop, no matter if you want to keep them inside the loop or not. Which is what the filters are for, depending on the map / pipe setup, setting the filter to Oxygen either means Oxygen will be ejected into space, or re-introduced into the chamber. Oxygen, while not "safe" in the sense that Nitrogen is the "safe" go-to gas for the cookie cutter SM build, can definitely function as coolant gas, like pretty much any other. It's just not very efficient, if I recall.
It's more the surrounding behavior that leads to the assumption of sabotage, in a vacuum not really because in a vacuum the SM doesn't cool and will blow up, haha get it? the actions relating to the SM would easily lead to an operational SM in the hands of a half-competent engineer with good intentions.

I think you misread, terra. He set it to siphoning. Only siphoning. This means that no new nitrogen will enter the chamber, and will cause the chamber to become a vacuum. This, then, causes a delamination.

also I only started playing ss13 a 3 months ago and haven't looked at any guides since then, so I dont even know how to set it up, just that you have to turn on emitters I think.
