Raveradbury- Jack Anton- killed a innocent "for not coming clean"

Post by CoolDude223334 » #565078

BYOND account: CoolDude22333
Character name: Jack Anton
Ban type: Server/Role/OOC/etc Server, sec job ban.
Ban length: 2 hour server, 1 month job
Ban reason: MRP: executed a innocent for "not coming clean" despite them actually coming clean, you have been warned for executing people before, cut this shit out
Time ban was placed: 2020-6-11 02:10:54
Server you were playing on when banned: Manuel
Round ID in which ban was placed: round 139246
Your side of the story: I am playing as HOS, and my detective has located a adrenal implant box and implanter. the records came up with the HOP being the person who used the implant. I go to the captain and attempt to ask him for permission to arrest the HOP, but he seems unresponsive. The HOP enters the bridge and begins to berate me. I arrest him and bring him and the detective to interrogation, where he has not only the adrenal implant, but has a radio jammer in his bag. I give him a chance to come clean, and ask for his syndicate uplink. He does not give it up, so I elect to execute him. The hop spent the round running around most of the time and not doing his job, and openly supporting a clown who sabotaged the SM and spread NO2 around the station hallways. immediately after I execute him, Rave comes and gives me a ticket, and I attempt to calmly explain my reasoning. He then gives me the ban. I am perfectly fine with a 2 hour ban from the server, no skin off my back, but a 1 month secban is a little too much even if this situation is justified, and in my eyes, at least, it is not. It seems like a irrationally fast ban from someone who did not listen to the reasons. For all purposes, he was a syndie agent who was discovered through the detective doing his job. I would like the job ban to be reconsidered, because I enjoy playing security, and I always try to give bad people a chance to come clean before anything else, and try to keep order. Even if this was a just ban, and I don't see it as that, 1 month seems a little much. I would not like to insult Rave for giving me this ban, and I wish you guys a good day for reading this ban appeal.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to appeal.

Before we get into the meat of this, I need to note that while applying your bans I accidentally gave you an additional 2 hour sec ban (I didn't switch to the server ban before I clicked). Before this appeal is taken care of we must ensure that this error has been addressed. There are current issues with the unbanning panel that are preventing me from doing it now.

EDIT: The extra sec ban applied in error has been removed.

Regarding your ban: executing people on MRP as rapidly as you did is an absolute violation of roleplay rule 6, especially when they haven't been found guilty of any violent or murderous crime.

You received a message about this a month ago.

You also had a sec and server ban back in april for round removing someone.

During the course of the note I said to you several times "doesn't mean you can kill him" and rather than acknowledging that you may have over-escalated the situation, you continued to push your case without addressing the point. Admittedly, this isn't my best rhetoric. I moved on to quoting MRP rule 6
Be kind to the bad guys. Because antagonists are often the driving force for most rounds, some amount of goodwill should be extended to them. Basically, try to interact and communicate with antagonists and try to create an exciting narrative, rather than, say, immediately laser them to death when you see them. Communication and dialogue are expected on both ends (although not necessarily required.)
You continued to try and justify your execution.

In light of the previous contact that an admin has made with you and your refusal to acknowledge this rule, I feel that a month sec ban is absolutely within reason. You can't just valid someone in 5 minutes because they literally told you the truth about how they found the antag gear. You said you had "evidence" but obviously that evidence was wrong, because when I checked their panel they weren't antag. This is a part of the risk that you have to accept for being thirsty for valids, we have similar principles in place for death grenades against antags.

You rushed a bad execution. You've been told not to execute under most circumstances. This situation did not call for an execution. You've already had a week sec ban for round removal of non-antags. You don't seem to think that what you did was against the rules. It definitely was.

Even if they were an antag, I would have still made a ban here. The way you handled this was not okay regardless of the victim's actual guilt. Stop doing this stuff on MRP.

Here's the scrubby for the round in question

It's also worth noting that you executed the clown for opening an N2O canister in the hallways, citing SM sabotage as the reason for execution.
This is another example, within the same round, of you being way too eager to execute as HoS.

I think this is relevant information to put into context that this isn't an isolated incident

I have experienced Jack's inclination to rush straight to executions at the first opportunity during a round where I was one of three people executed, to the best of my knowledge without captain permission. My execution-worthy offence was escaping from the brig as a roundstart prisoner after being left unattended outside of perma. I regret not ahelping at the time because I like giving people the benefit of the doubt but clearly my judgement failed me on this one.

I can dig up the round ID if requested
