Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
I only send centcomm messages when they're necessary and I format them realistically but I always get ignored. Why have the feature if nobody will ever respond to it?
Example: Captured a wizard alive with just me and one other guy while there is a cult and traitors also, and I message centcomm asking if they wanted to send someone to escort them to super jail - no response, two admins online. (Also an admin training a candidate but that makes sense) Spend the next fifteen minutes carting this guy around while my detective fights cultists and I can't do anything.

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
They tend not to respond to ahelps unless you ask multiple times, or prayers or deadchat salt either
Generally admins on /tg/ are more so a supernatural force then a guaranteed task force.
They do it for free. What did we expect?

If I notice the message I usually answer but it's pretty easy for it to get lost during the waves of logs we get.

I occasionally answer if I think it's worth it, but Morto is right, a lot of the messages are lost in the deluge of admin notices we get.

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
As has already been said, it's pretty easy to miss or lose track of centcom messages when things are busy. That accounts for most of the radio silence.
That being said, it's also worth mentioning that the vast majority of centcom messages are either:
1. Meme garbage.
2. Requests for unjustifiable/inappropriate deus ex machina-style intervention in the progression of the round.
Interesting in-character RP-based requests are few and far between.
I personally really enjoy stepping into character to shoot off a reply, but I don't always get the opportunity.

Not sure where this is coming from. If an admin is online and active, ahelps almost always get some sort of response.Shadowflame909 wrote:They tend not to respond to ahelps unless you ask multiple times
Your statement says more about the quality of your ahelps than the responsiveness of the administration team.

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
I wish my seething was unwarranted but there is a very gripping standard of less getting done in a timely manner when more admins appear
But this is satisfactory because it is not a paying job. So admins shouldn't invest all their time in this game.

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
Its sad cause my meme shit is always answered but when I make reasonable good requests that could set up a solid mini event they usually go ignored.

I've never ignored a centcom message I've noticed, but they can get lost in the spam sometimes.
Any Captain that tries something fun through centcom should be rewarded so I'd honestly say pray if it doesnt go through after a few minutes. Prays are more prominent than centcom messages for some reason.

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
Solution here seems to be to make centcomm messages pop out more in the logs. I know chap and spiritualist prays pop out enough to get noticed, and those are far more common and less justifiable than a centcomm message, which IIRC can only be sent by someone with Captain-level access at a comms console.
I wonder if syndicate messages(emagged comms consoles) are also just as hard to see and just as frequently ignored?

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
If you ask for reasonable stuff admins tend to answer you at some point and grant it.
For example, in a round where the chef was brutally killed by a ling and turned into meat that was subsequently poisoned, I as a captain requested a crate of burgers from Central with the budget paying for it.
They sent me 3 greasy crates full of stale big bite burgers, which was hilarious and lead to a funny situation between me and the new chef where I asked them to serve the burgers, and ignore the quality of it as the station budget paid for them (they threw them into the trash moments later, and I found them at disposals and took them back to the kitchen to serve them.)
The key to getting both prayers, trades, and station requests answered is to ask for reasonable things or entertaining things without going above and beyond with absurdity.

most of the stuff i get is asking for dumb shit, which i answer with a BSA. if i get a good request i try to make it happen or at least make it attainable (give a challenge for the player to complete).

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
Centcomm messages have old formatting, which is to say, terrible, it'd be nice if they had a different colour/background, so the actual messages that come through are more legible.

spiritualist has nothing special except it replaces (PRAY) with (SPIRITUAL PRAY).
I would prefer if things had unique sounds so I can be prompted to view them even if tabbed out.

do they have a sound associated with them? I know basically every admin disabled the prayer sound because it was fucking AWFUL and 40000db louder than anything else and went on forever but yeah

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
Most Centcom messages are either asking for free shit (including ERT's, which while definitely a reasonable thing to ask for when the station is falling apart, is usually very unfair to the antags) or just the clown or an assistant breaking into a machine the captain left logged in and sending swear words or threatening to secede from NT. Of the legitimate requests, I'll respond to some of them when I can and want to, but other times I'm working with something in another window or dealing with a bunch of Griff/another gimmick

Re: Why don't admins ever respond to Centcomm messages
In addition to the other stuff, Centcomm messages, much like prayers are very much a question of what's in the message itself.
If your centcomm message/prayer is something like "gib stuff"/"gib antag"/etc then I'm probably just going to ignore it.
