okay so pretty much everytime that i play there arent any admins online
which sucks ass. and makes it a nice day for griefers. this can be fixed by starting to make a application forum or hire more admins in general. please fix this. i know how the admin thing works so if you need one pm me. have a good one and fix this!

The problem is that the autistic fucking admins on these SS13 servers, so drunk with power, so intoxicated on the scent of their sweaty ballsacks as they drown in 'decision making' and 'responsibility', things they've never had before, hand out permabans for next to nothing. I was going to say that if I ever got admin again on anything then this post has given me wisdom and insight for the future unironically, but I just remembered that I barely remember banning people permanently or for more than six months. Probably 10 or less times.

It is far more noble to help those where help is needed most though. You don't have to play on purely bagil though. All you have to do is, from what I remember, if you see a no-admin-alert ahlep from bagil then it would be nice to help there if no one else needs your help on your sybil. You don't have to stay there, do tc trades, and other shit.

edit: if you really want to avoid people trying to go "admin, do this meme" then stealthmin as well. There are multiple tools at your disposal to avoid having to stay on bagil for long while still being able to help.

The actual reason is because basil's admin wanting players are creepy psychopath arseholes like SolumAmant also known as *the* tinodrima7020 here who don't understand what harassment means and would make absolutely trash admins. really that's not fair, as solumamant is one of the most awful chodes to grace this shithole in quite some time, and the average low quality player doesn't quite compare.

lots of smart non creepy people realize adminning is a sham and turn it down, and lots of those same people also abandoned basil for being full of losers like you. that's why it has no admins, you're too insufferable.

as the admin in question here, when I look at your ban reason and appeal threads, and then at this post, I'm convinced that I made the right choice. you say "nevermind that people change" but the way you act in this post is basically verbatim why you got permabanned. you should really seek out a therapist dude. getting as angry as you get at an online videogame is not a way to live your life.

anything that a person wrote in their *expression of interest* is theirs to share however they'd please. "non-transparency" as you'd call it was a goal that I set out for pretty much from the beginning. it's not any different from how they were chosen before though where ATs just asked people individually. more like a follow-on to that so that people who are potentially slipping under the radar could do a bit of begging and become the jannie.

actual transparency in the adminning process would be stupid because /tg/ has a bunch of creepy sociopaths that they don't give the boot for some inexplicable reason and these people would seek power and then stir a bunch of shit when it was publicly denied to them

Also I really REALLY should stop but I just want to say that I spent months searching for non insane people to admin on Basil. It was my primary focus the whole time I was an AT, along with some searching on Terry. I got turned down by a lot of people, and accepted by some people. In the past year's time Nabski getting deadminned was a large hit to Basil activity, and Imsxz sort of filled that gap but not quite. A lot of people drop off in activity hard after their trial ends (xD) and there are always people coming, going, and no longer adminning. Otherwise it was basically just trying to find good people. There is no magical supply of suitable admin candidates waiting to be adminned, we got the good ones. The rest are pretty much people who said no, people who are seriously under-qualified, and stalker power hungry sociopaths like Tinodrima, who have or had a vested interest in becoming admins and I can't believe honestly care about the server.

I am just rambling and throwing shade so I guess my point is: as a person who was intimately familiar with this whole process and spent a lot of time doing their best to help it, please take it from me when I say that it's not just going to get better easily! There is no easy improvement to fix the problem! It is a deep problem that will take a lot of work to fix in a way that would make a lot of people upset. In the short term there are still a number of people who are trying to find good Basil candidates, but I really doubt that they'll ever find enough to fill the holes.

But at the end of the day why bother even talking about bagil? I think I'm among a decent amount of bagil players who don't give a shit if there are admins or not. The real issue is Event Hall because no admin wants to be there since its full of new players who don't know how to play the game. Which is where mclovin is from, I assume. I honestly feel either event hall should be shut down or admins should actually be on there, since all we're doing is forcing players away from tg.

Not a lot of people wanted to admin on Event Hall either, it was basically treated like Basil once the "hype" had died down and things had settled in, and honestly the big population of new players could be an even bigger PITA to deal with than the quite loathsome Basil regulars.

Saying "I feel event hall should be shut down or admins should be forced to be on there" is a nice idea but it won't go anywhere. At that point you're basically talking about something MSO would be heavily involved in and good luck getting MSO to do just about anything. Also it would probably flood the other servers with too much pop again. It's still on the Hub by the way, having servers on the Hub is still insane and garbage (I thought we had agreed to take it off some time before I left, guess not).

Honestly most of the bagil issue is more down to admins who would cover it during those later American hours retiring for various very legitimate reasons. There is some truth about other admins avoiding the place and sticking to their server of preference, we can't really change that as this is a volunteer position and the moment you force admins to have shifts and where they have to go is the moment you'll get a lot less admins. Typically we resolve this by recruiting more but it's not a quick process. I've seen people covering bagil lately so it's something people are keeping in mind but it might be a while before the numbers stabilize. Meanwhile the boys in terry saw less coverage too (in no small part because I burned out a bit) but terry are kind of used to it so you don't see as much complaining about it. Event hall is a whole other thing, I've done some stints on the hall lately and it's the kind of place that has EASY ahelps but you get a lot of them. If the others are anything like me they can only do the hall for a couple rounds before having to move on and do something else. Last time I did it I got some help at the end so it wasn't so bad.

Admin is a mixed bag and comes down to how much strain you have at any given moment. If it's just the usual one ahelp every ten-fifteen minutes it's rarely relaxed and you feel good helping players, the problem comes when you're solo admin on a high pop server handing half a dozen ahelps at once with some of them turning into complicated investigations. More admins is the way but naturally the people who become candidates need to have a good recent history and come across as level headed and helpful. Just have to see how it'll play out, trainers are constantly on the look out and they have asked plenty of people. One way or another things will keep rolling on and we'll reach the next crisis.

the idea is attractive, sure, but you'll still want the threat of admins checking in now and again for bigger problems like someone intentionally crashing the place or a huge bitchfit in OOC. Some things can't be solved by mob justice.

Though it would defeat the point of a self policing server if everyone is encouraged to kill each other for admin powers. It would just be the battle royale server.
