It checks your undertale savefile to see if you did a genocide run. Literal foreshadowing.

edit: Alphys literally lives in an alley and is homeless. Also based on that ending. You can infer which ending is canon. At least in this timeline?

went back and got to the SeCrEt boss that literally everybody is talking about that i missed
first try i lost, then i got healing items and beat it second try
pretty fun and was worth the challenge, hope there are more fights like that in the real game

yeah, i just followed a guide to reach the guy. i didnt find a single thing related to him in my first playthrough (and i thought i was being thorough) so i didnt care enough to look for it myself the second time around

yeah, but this is one you actually have to try really fucking hard to reach and IIRC doesn't even count against your pacifist counter if you kill it
so it's just toby going "well, fine, but let's pretend this never happened" which is ok

I finished this game yesterday with non-violence, the ending prior the ending was pretty nice but overall it wasn't very challenging if you deliberately mill rabbits for cash to buy incidental health items despite them doing avoidable silly amounts of damage, there weren't any enemy types that didn't have a presented weakness like you would expect for the first arc of the game. *spoiler for anybody clicking to the end of the thread, go to the beginning in future*

Conceptually i took away that the demo atleast is a exercise in Fate. I didn't do the secret boss because i didn't have to and weren't nessecarily aware of their existance and i glad i didn't looking back because it looks like a pain in the ass for nothing, i just went around and gleamed information that ultimately other than obviously watching as a third party who never played the original wasn't quite so conspiratorially put together like a game-theory video.

With the context of the last game, nothing happened with many of the characters personally but many things still remain the same, the skeleton brothers being the the prescedented self aware characters may know but even within the course of the game its delayed until 'tommorow', obviously goat-parent's marriage is still broken down because quinsentially they are the same characters but the original impact of the first game interpersonally never happened.

Its literally just Beserk but cutey pop culture anime, the only acting forces are unintroduced characters of the 'God Hand' esque parallel charracters like Gastor who has a presence in the game and actively subvert it in such a way that you can never lose when your party 'dies' (or anybody does), proceeding onto the fixated end point. At some point by the introduction of chapters & characters perhaps even breaking the arc and jumping to chapter 5 or however it'd like to approach it, i feel the full edition of the game if it comes will ultimately try to break free of those constraints to subvert fate as a exercise to show the player.

The game may very well begin or end with you seeking out to restore things to the original preclude of the first game, which means sparking the original war and deliberately failing/sabotaging your conveniently handed heroic quest to serve as a prequel where you basically just cook the timeline with napalm

If Toby is getting rid of the pacifist/genocide separation, then incorporate both ACT and FIGHT into combat, and don't make one very specifically the peaceful solution and the other one very specifically the aggressive solution. Save ACT for special context-sensitive actions and give you more options when you FIGHT.

After the final fight, Susie and Ralsie have a talk about how they both realize now sometimes it's necessary to ACT and sometimes you have no choice to FIGHT... Except that even in that final battle, you are perfectly fine if you use only ACT or only FIGHT. In the full version of the game, that would be the perfect point to hammer it home to pacifist players that in this game sometimes you cannot win an encounter without fighting back, and vice versa for genocidal players. Even in the pacifist route in Undertale you are forced to fight Asgore before you can unlock the true ending.

the boss fight at the end of the dark area is a attrition fight that to get the peaceful resolution you just have to keep going constantly buffing healing and lightly poking the enemy, however they cop out of a real genocide kill by having the sequence after cast a sleeping spell instead if you take the purely violent route.
