Sorry but its pretty hard not to generalize when any time someone takes a prod at catgirls SOMEONE flies off the handle in an unacceptable manner.

Case in point, that time MSO turned them off for an hour and that one (now ex) admin, rather than talk about it or even ask so much as "Hey guys why did this happen? Whats going on?" they decided to adminbomb the server over a couple rounds as "protest against the host attacking the playerbase". Not once did they seek to reconcile the issue in any other manner, they jsut went from 0 to I BOM U REEEEE!! in 2 seconds flat.

The only copped a 2 day slap on the wrist ban and it took five pages of forum discussion to actually have them held to the same standard as a non antag player maxcapping the station. Initially they weren't even going to have any kind of admin reprimand either.

While people who complain about catgirls might get occasionally "salty" they have never been mallacious to the extent the pro catgirl have gotten.

The most stupid thing about all the "remove catpeople" PRs is that the authors assume the problem they see can be fixed by removing an effect of it. It can't. Even if by some remote chance it did go through and catgirls were removed, it won't remove the people that play them. They'll still post cat lewds on discord and probably find a substitute ingame, and nothing will change that.

Except for the edge cases of admin fuckery, it accomplishes the same thing if it was disabled via the configuration. I doubt these numbers will change much for a "code solution." A good majority of players will just see it as removal in either scenario and not care that it was a configuration edit or PR that removed the thing.

I dislike catpeople since I personally feel it does not fit in well with the universe. More than anything else (species related) it strikes me as some god inserting a Human variant with cat ears, its low effort, boring and while anecdotal I find some catpeople players to be annoying.

I also find catpeople to be very inconsistant. Lizardpeople actually look like humanoid Lizards instead of a Human, with pink skin, having a green tail. Mothpeople actually look like a giant moth, again not just a Human with moth wings.

Catpeople are just Humans with cat ears and tails. It'd be far more thematic if Catpeople actually looked like a large Humanoid cat.

The whole "we'll lose our funding if we don't submit to the powerful interests" thing, the identity politics aspect of it all, and especially the concept of an overton window, with lizards, for example, once being something people wanted to remove, now being an unapproachably radical concept.

Then again, I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but forcing a server poll to bypass headmins on a config option (which is a server-only decision to make), seems rather gross. Did headmins even had any say in this poll? Because I don't remember any one of them running on a platform against catgirls or even making the promise to poll the community to decide about the issue.

To be precise, people (myself included) didn't want to have lizards as a standard playable race, not removed altogether. I was mocked for using slippery slope argument, but here we are, after I was proven right at least five times.
