Arianya wrote:sorry you're right clearly this is a serious thread for serious discussion only, i missed that.
Completely empty post, unless you read it for it's literal meaning which is that admins abusing their powers to ban people while being blatantly unable to provide any kind of cogent reasoning for why they did this is not worthy of "serious discussion". In other words, we (the players) can go fuck ourselves.
Rustledjimm wrote:>deleting shitposts requires the same amount of thought and thinking as weighing up an appeal, the effect on the server, potential problems and other considerations
This is why you'd make a shit headmin.
Completely empty post, zero explanation provided for the current situation. (Snarky young girl anime avatar, poster clearly male. See previous post.)
!!!DANGER!!!
Dax Dupont wrote:Do you really need to tell the community you're going on vacation for a week?
Goof is our Alex Jones but even more conspiracy minded.
Further denial of the need for administrators to be accountable to anyone but themselves. Empty accusation of Goof being "conspiracy minded" while the posts unfolding in this thread tell a clear story of misbehavior by a cabal of admins attempting to cover for eachother. If there was a case to be made against Goofball, at this point one of the administrators involved would've just posted "Goofball did x, this is a violation of rule y, and so we are enforcing the rules."
The refusal to allow him to appeal is another example of this. If he did not have a case, you would let him make the appeal so that everyone could see that.

You are literally seeing conspiracy boogiemen that don't exist
"You are LITERALLY seeing conspiracy boogiemen that don't exist!" Accordingly, I've locked you out from all channels of communication so that you cannot discredit yourself by spouting your silly conspiracies
imblyings wrote:i have a long memory

if so he can silently reflect upon the many actions of his that lead to his current predicament and of course not ever admit or own up to them, as goof isn't the sort of guy to own up to the consequences of his shit-stirring otherwise he might not have done it in the first place
people can say i banned goof cause i got tilted but frankly, if every person who could do a thing about goof never did a thing when they got reminded about how shitty goof is because they were scared they'd be called out for whatever reason, he'd never be removed
so here we go, i don't care but i sure dont mind placing down the ban i should have never lifted years ago
This one is spectacular. Seven lines of text from the person who felt it necessary to permaban someone from the forums because he was spouting "conspiracies" (if this was the case, the prudent thing to do would be to allow Goof to post his conspiracies so that people can see what bullshit it is), but if you remove all the fluff there is little if any content wrt why this is actually happening. Let's trim the fat off of ausop's post and see what we're left with:
he can silently reflect upon the many actions of his that lead to his current predicament
That's it. And conveniently what he did is never actually mentioned. This post would've been way more effective in getting Ausop's point across had he just said "I had to ban Goofball because he broke x rule." His refusal to do this reflects very poorly on his side of the story.
Lazengann wrote:standing with ausops
Empty statement of siding with Ausops, lends credence to the theory admins are acting as a cabal.
Dax Dupont wrote:Almost the entire adminbus agrees with ausops. Including me.
"Most of us agree with this so it's a done deal." What a joke.
I can guarantee that if almost everyone agreed that "Dax Dupont" needs to be banished from this community, he would NOT accept that as sound reasoning. Furthermore I can guarantee that this is a situation he will be forced to deal with this in short order, as this is his avatar:
Arianya wrote:Ask not what you can do for goof.

This is the

Coincidentally, this is his avatar:
Lazengann wrote:oranges are your squiggle marks implying that goof isn't toxic
Empty post from the guy whose previous post was an empty statement of "I side with ausops".
Why do all these admins have the time/energy to post a litany of snarky replies but they can't answer simple questions like "Why did goofball need to be permabanned?" or "Why is Goofball being prohibited from stating his case in any way?"
Lazengann wrote:I guess if you pretend most of his actions were imaginary then you're right
Another one, conspicuously absent of any explanation of what these actions were.
Dax Dupont wrote:Coming from hg that's a compliment.
Completely empty response to Hornygranny's very valid point. This is not how someone who is confident in their position behaves. Evasive and snarky. Very telling!
captain sawrge wrote:Who are you again
More empty snark from someone who is ostensibly directly involved in this shitshow.

Saegrimr wrote:"Opinions"
Lets not pretend goof only holds opinions, and hasn't regularly pushed absolute trash PRs to prove a point when he doesn't like something that happens policy-wise. Something pretty much no regular player does or even thinks of as an option.
Big dog moderator (this is his avatar

) comes in to comment on the situation. Only states that Goofball submits PRs he thinks are trash. Is this why goofball got banned?
"Something pretty much no regular player does or even thinks of as an option."
What does this mean? Would we permaban other people for submitting PRs deemed "trash"?
https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/38479
I submitted this the other day and received absolutely nothing in the way of punishment.
Dax Dupont wrote:The reason goof got banned was a rule 0/1, for years and years of shitty behavior. Nearly every time he posts it was in bad faith. He's been arguably so detrimental to the community it made people leave over the years.
There's no reason why someone who posts in bad faith for years and doesn't even play the game should be allowed to shit up the community for no reason other than being an absolute dickhead to people.
People finally stopped listening "but its goof xd lmao" and stopped letting him get away being so utterly detrimental to the community as a whole.
Maybe it was not as fully communicated to other admins at first, but we don't need to make ban reasons public to /anyone/ aside from the affected player.
If you want to find out what lead to this, feel free to read his post history and 400 bad faith PRs.
The first substantial post to be made. Let's break it down.
1. Goofball was banned on the basis of a rule that lets admins ban people without needing a concrete reason.
2. His posts are in "bad faith". (Does this even mean anything? Clearly not as it appears the post that got him banned was one centered around ensuring a player was given fair hearing in an appeal... aka the exact thing admins should be concerned about

)
3. "He's a dickhead and shitty" aka nothing, I could say the same about you, I just don't have the weight of an admin cabal behind me to do anything about it.
4. "He was beung so utterly detrimental to the community as a whole." Conspicuous lack of ANY specific details at all as to what this "detriment shitty behavior" actually was, ie. it didn't actually exist and this is nothing but post hoc justification being thrown out to muddy the discussion's waters.
5. "Maybe we didn't communicate it fully to the other admins, but this doesn't matter and also we are under no obligation to explain or justify our behaviors to anyone be they players or admins lower on the totem pole than us." I suppose you're entitled to feel this way, but it's clear to see that this is not the kind of attitude that fosters a pleasant video game server environment. Tacit admission that your main goal in administrating is turning this place into a tyrannical loli catgirl fiefdom, and fuck what the players think.
Finally he concludes with, "if you want to know why this happened, feel free to read his 2508 posts and all the PRs he's ever made on the /tg/station github."
Again all this shows is that they are completely at a loss for how to justify their actions. Again, it would be as simple as saying "my reason was this", but that assumes there was a reason at all.
Shaps-cloud wrote:Need to know basis
I'm assuming this one was a joke. If it's serious then
19 posts from 10 different admins and not one of them was willing or able to answer the very simple question, "What did Goofball do to warrant the ban and why is he being denied the right to appeal or discuss it?"
This certainly makes me think Goofball was wrong about admins acting in bad faith, together. Note how they also used the term "in bad faith", well funny enough projection is a classic sign of guilt..
