I remember back in the old day, you didn't start with anything. You'd just be on newbie island and you'd have to MAKE your stuff!
And you could only carry a little bit of it along to the real server!
And we walked uphill both ways!
But it was a pretty small and managable server so it's not like it mattered for travel, and creating new stuff wasn't particularly hard either

what I did on the server I played on was kinda dumb I guess but it was like one of the big maps like 8k etc something like that big and all the like 15-20 people were living around spawn but I was like fuck that and walked 8-9 hours into the wilderness to live. My first death I was walking on top of some mountains after leveling my climbing for like 3 days it was higher than anything else but I was descending and thought it was a lot lower than it seemed like; turned out to be level 120 degree slope mountain side and I bounced twice after going like 100mphs and died and lost all my shit. then I spent another 2-3 days getting back there and wound up going completly in a circle around my body around 2 other mountain ranges before sneaking past an elder bear and getting all my degraded shit back it was at like 80 dmg and some of it was actually ded

Well, the only projects currently are some structure Shezza is building but refuses to say what its for, a storehouse near the boat docks, the boat docks itself, and my first sailboat. We'll be putting up a church as well.

Its a pretty solid jaunt. I'd wager it would take, on a single horse without cargo, at least 45 minutes to correct if not longer.

reviving this because wurm online is getting a proper steam release ft.

- new UI
- new volumetric lighting(!)
- a new server cluster separate from the existing servers, specifically for the new batch of steam users

drops on the 24th iirc

I love WU but I think I prefer online, the increased difficulty of online makes progression and specialization more valuable - it's much harder to be good at everything due to slower action and skillgain, so you can legitimately sell goods and services without being an extremely high level. bulk shit like bricks and dirt sells for more

should be a good time

I found it hard to get invested in unlimited because of how easy it was, to be honest - I'll probably pick up online again

especially with it being a new cluster that's separate form the other maps, that way I can actually establish myself and help other people out

there's something sort of endearing to me about how long term wurm in general is and unlimited felt like it lost some of that charm - WO has been around for literally decades now and has a fuckload of history, but with WU it feels less secure
