It'd make for a nice way for sec to conduct executions, though I guess they could always meathook people which has a sorta peculiar charm to it. I remember a time when HoG was in and while I was wandering around trying to figure out what to do (I never did) I discovered the enemy cult leader burnt to a crisp, popehat still on, hanging upside down from a meathook in the middle of the courtroom.

Even a cursory examination of the historical context of the noose, at least in the United States -- which I understand is not inclusive of everyone who plays on our servers -- shows that more than enough cultural baggage exists alongside the noose to indicate, at the very least, that it is often associated with racist imagery.

The connotation didn't come out of a vacuum: this particular interpretation of the noose as signifier is directly correlated to white supremacist use of it as a tool of intimidation.

So while you're correct that a noose, in and of itself, is not a racist object, it is very definitely used in that fashion, and not only to great effect but also with absolute intent.

I think the admins are severely overstating the amount of players that would take this being added as validation to break rules and kill people fnr, and if they aren't breaking the rules then lynching lizards/antags/sec/heads/cats/niggers/everyone is just a particularly grandiose murderbone gimmick, which I would say is good.

Creative ways of breaking up the normal monotony of the rounds is always a good thing until it gets stale, and I'd be lying if I didn't find the idea of a traitor in a bedsheet jumping people and dragging them into maint for a lynching to be pretty damn entertaining.

Only I don't think they would do that (maybe for a day) for that long. Killing a lizard is just killing a lizard regardless of how you do it, and people have been doing it for a long time. They would get bored much faster than that.
