[Gouty] Reese Mcclymonds - Complaint on ban/admin behavior

This is more a complaint about the admin and a request to investigate the behaviour - I cannot post in the admin complaints forum and downloading IRC is a bit of a hassle

Byond account and character name: apeh, Random (Reese Mcclymonds at incident)
Banning admin: Gouty
Ban type (What are you banned from?): Ban from playing
Ban reason and length: Reason: Suicided as a centcom inspector as soon as they entered their body -- though I dispute this being accurate or reasonable -- 10 minute ban from game, but the reasons behind it were questionable
Time ban was placed (including time zone): 5:50pm GMT
Server you were playing when banned (Sybil or Bagil): Sybil
Your side of the story:
Admin was trying to force an event, after getting murdered by a character who was trying to 'free the lizards' (unsure if legit traitor or if Gouty set that up too) I then had a chance to play as an Assistant after death (pop up yes/no)
Spawned in as a centcomm officer instead of an assistant as expected and Gouty then set the objective as the following:

Considering I thought I was going to spawn as an assistant and then got given this really questionable objective which would lead to nothing but me having to walk around saying "free the lizards" before getting lynched I committed suicide

Following that Gouty then said: DEAD: ADMIN(Gouty) says, "you fucking asshole"
and when I responded saying it was a dumb idea he just flipped out and banned:

Why you think you should be unbanned: it's a short ban but I want to raise it as a complaint to the admin, merely the forum doesn't allow posting at the moment (accidental?)
I think the conduct of Gouty was quite childish

Wow, that is a long post for a 10 minute ban.

First, admin complaints are here (just below ban appeals)

As a little background to this, the captain that round was running a terrible meme where he was forcing crewmembers into slavery.

I created a centcom inspector to try and IC some of the terrible away. For whatever reason when I offered it to ghosts it came up with "assistant", i explained in deadchat that it was actually an inspector.

You could clearly see it was admin created, instead of ahelping it or ghosting, you said IMMEDIATELY "this is fucking dumb" and suicided, just as I was about to explain the situation and PM you to ask if you had any questions, you literally didn't even give me time to do that.

The ban was there to encourage you not to suicide in important roles in the future, instead if you don't want to do it, do what the next person did and ahelp it.

P.S. I have no idea what you are talking about with regards to being murdered by someone who was trying to "free the lizards" perhaps if you had ahelped it we could have looked into it for you

So you clicked yes to a role you weren't sure about, but were hopeful that it would get you back into the game. However, once you're put into the role you learn its' not just some brain dead assistant role and you're expected to show some modicum of rp and try to do the objective you're given. Once you learn that it's not just some free entry back into the round you suicide instead of ahelping asking to be replaced?

Alright so let's address some things.

One. This is actually an admin complaint and you're in the wrong forum.

Two. Don't click on ghost roles expecting a free pass back into the round. Many of them have restrictions on their game play style.

Three. Don't suicide when you're offered a job as a ghost by an admin. We don't offer up roles if we didn't believe they were important or wouldn't have an impact on the round. Ahelp and ask to be replaced if you don't want to play.

I'm not even calling in the conduct of gouty or the ban, just think a bit before you smash yes to a button hoping for an EZ pass back into the round.

I will admit that normally I would PM the offending party to let them know what they had done wrong, had I not have been busy dealing with other things I would have done this and heard them out.

I figured a 10 minute ban would be enough time for them to mull over what they had done and why it was shitty, in reality it seems it just gave them some time to bitch on the forum.

Admin complaints forum doesn't allow new threads, the problem is it was an asinine role created which was solely going to get lynched and the admin in question flipped out in chat when I clearly stated it was a bad idea instead of handling it appropriately or messaging first, he was purely aggressive -- the attitude of the admin is not beneficial to players in any way

When you enter an offered role, it is up to you, the player, to accommodate that role. Just as if, when you spawn in as a sentience'd mob in xeno, you are not allowed to attack your creator and will net a ban if you do so, you are expected to follow the requirements and 'story' of any other role you accept.

If you have an issue with that role, ahelp about it. This is not an infrequent occurrence.

Suiciding as that role after an admin has created it, however, is far more infrequent, and is actionable, in the same way that suiciding at roundstart as a HoP would be actionable.

The main point I'm bringing up is the conduct of the admin, am I to assume the way the admin handled it, ie aggressively swearing repeatedly in deadchat then banning without any direct contact was reasonable?

Regardless I was under the impression I was to be spawning as an assistant, the role that was created presented no element of fun and was clear that with the climate of the round it would be lynched - it is rather different than accepting a centcomm role which was agreeable to be fun, rather was thrown into something I didn't really want to be with an objective which really wasn't fun for anyone playing it

Also I have associated my account with a byond ckey - the admin complaints forum doesn't allow new topics for my user group

You don't get to decide the actions of an admin during a round.

If you have a problem with the voluntary role that was offered that you accepted, ahelp it, don't suicide.

You do not have a 'Byond Username' next to your name in your posts. I suspect this is the problem.

I probably either would have PMed you and asked if you seriously just did that, or deadchatted you something like 'really?' then noted you, possibly given you a short ban or a ghostrole ban. It would depend on the specific circumstances.

I'm not sure why you expect an admin to be happy with you after you blatantly defile something they were trying to bring into the game.

You can tell them the role sucks and you don't want to play it but you can't remove their role from the round yourself

Thanks for the answer, it is disappointing that it is thought to be acceptable as an admin to swear at players and ban in haste, I was hoping that it would be frowned upon for lacking professional conduct

On a side note to refer to my last post I was under the impression I was joining as an assistant, not a centcomm officer with a very very detrimental objective - I would never have accepted that so it was not like I intentionally went out my way to 'defile something'

How would you like it if you offered a role to someone and they accepted it only to immediately suicide?

Swearing and being aggressive in ahelps is one thing, responding to someone in deadchat who just suicided after getting a role is another. Not actionable.
