Seems neat, though I'm personally a fan of 2D sidescrollers because I find them to be more relaxing, it seems like it could be pretty fun depending on how gameplay turns out.

We think that 3D allows for much deeper design spaces and more possibilities for cool gameplay. Feelings of scale and atmosphere are also much stronger. We are really happy with the core of Risk of Rain - and we’re finding it plays even better in 3D.

I admit I was not thrilled to see the screencaps at first though

I dont think EA exploiting/ruining yet another franchise is really comparable to a couple of guys who actually enjoy videogames making something new.

Another thing i'd like to say is that I wished it brought through new themes, this just looks like the first area again, enemies too.

I still think the first risk of rain is better. In my opinion I don't think a 3D roguelike would be that much of a good idea.
