Yes that looks dumb, but its just really cold fire. The freon should be depriving the fire of air so literally whats happening there.

Fire needs oxygen to combust but freon makes it funky because its also a gas, nonreactive but still atmospherically around.

If there is any flame being suppressed by the freon's cold it should be consuming oxygen like mad to try and continue combustion in the plasma, like combined freon & fire would really drink all the air supplies in a rapid fashion. Probably they should cancel each other out & the freon persists when the fire runs out of air after being forced to really work its balls off.

Freon therefore if atmos actually was working should have been a perfect tool against fires via shooting a quick blast of freon at it to starve the fire and make it expend more energy trying to continue. If it wasn't a mess to clean up it'd be better than foam which outright smothers fires to death.
