Re: Salami-guy Jacque
the whiplash from "Aku is literally giving himself therapy and putting on flame eyebrows when he wakes up" to "jack has slit a young woman's throat and been stabbed" not being jarring at all was incredible
so glad I started watching this show, I saw s5e1 on youtube for whatever reason and started watching the older ones
so fucking good

Re: Salami-guy Jacque
Watched the second episode, it was really interesting.
Funny how Aku has progressed from fighting Jack and getting fucking dunked to throwing impotent enemies and minor inconveniences at Jack and giggling to having a crisis and not having any idea what to do any more because Jack is the only stimulation he has any more and being a god isn't very exciting.
I predict next episode will begin with the Daughters finding the corpse of one of their own and have their ability start to unravel either out of rage or fear that they could fail, and then Jack either bails or dunks them all now that their confidence is wavering.

Re: Salami-guy Jacque
I like how the fifth season is slowly deconstructing the "cartoon for kids" tropes of the first four seasons. Fifty years of typical cartoon status quo back-where-we-started has left both Jack and Aku mentally exhausted, and Jack is shocked that he killed a real human when he thought it was just another machine.

on the arrival shuttle, I saw the iconic toolbox on the ground. I clubbed myself in the head with it trying to figure out the controls.
Setting the tool box, now bloodied, back on the table; I went to heal myself with a medkit. I clubbed myself in the head with that too.
I've come a long ways from asking how to switch hands.

that episode was fucking great, and the timing on scaramouche was amazing
>heh that guy has a small head
>it's vaguely phallic lol
>ok now what
>"that guy has a penis head"
I never thought a penis joke would be an example of quality writing

Considering the sword can choose to vanish and it pmuch established in the cartoons aku can't use it right jack gonna be fine.
Would be rad as fuck if he could inner peace draw it out of nothing.
Or realises all the being a good dude shit is what beats aku and kills the goon with his bare hands.

it's also not hard to imagine aku having some counter meme magic to negate the magic disappearing bullshit

Re: Salami-guy Jacque
The older episodes seem to suggest that Aku could still destroy the sword even if he can't use it, but he only ever tried it on fake swords so who knows.

I woulda gone with a terminator 2, with ashi lowering herself into molten steel or something to rid the last bit of akus taint in the world. Or seppuku with jacks sword.

Re: Salami-guy Jacque
Pacing of the final episode was too rushed, but it contained everything an ending would've had to contain and I am satisfied.
I do think they should've just cut it up into 2 episodes, and have the scenes last longer. Samurai Jack is known for taking its damn time in its scenes and there were plenty of characters left.
But I am satisfied.
