Poly tweets every half hour, 20 4 past the hour. The feed pulls from a sanitized/filtered list of all the phrases poly knows from both servers.

FAQ:

Why?
Why not? Its a fun little diversion you don't have to pay attention to if you don't want, and extends a silly little olive branch to people who might not really get the idea of SS13 who might someday stumble upon it.

So if I say something to Poly it will eventually end up on that twitter account?
Maybe! I filter the lists and only draw new text from them every so often, so its entirely possible that your text will either never be picked up by Poly or forgotten before I check again. Don't intentionally talk to poly with the expectation that it will be on that account. The order in which messages appear on the twitter are also entirely random (as is birdly canon).

What's being sanitized?
Common game generated messages like the arrivals announcer, lines too long for twitter, things that look like urls, and a few racial epithets. I'm not currently filtering swears, but if people intentionally flood Poly's lexicon with them I'll have to start, so don't do this. Also poly discards things already said, so over time more generic responses like "Hi!"/"FUCK YOU"/"I'm killing poly." will fall off. Beyond this you're getting the bird in the raw.

I've said something profoundly embarrassing and personally identifying in front of the bird and don't want it to appear on twitter!
Send me a PM, I've tried to filter out these subjectively already, but if you're worried I can make sure.

Remember always that the bird is listening.

It actually will, since other people can/have taught it that phrase accidentally a lot. But it only ever tweets a unique message once, so you're gonna see variations on the theme over time.

If someone was paying close attention they might have seen poly goof up a little while ago. I've corrected the problem but as a side effect poly now posts at X:08 instead of the more mematic X:20. I might fix that at some point but for now whatever.

So it turns out that Poly picks up phrases quicker than I thought, and because of this I could move the bots setting to tweeting every half hour instead of every hour without any real risk out of running out of phrases.
