Make bombs useful for mining
Not really a miner, but everyone I ask says that TTV bombs are basically useless for mining.
What if they didn't gib half the ores in range, but instead gave a bonus to the amount of ores received from the explosion?
Something like x2 ore drops from ores dropped by the explosion.
Would make toxins a more useful department for non-antagonistic purposes, promotes the transfer of !!!FUN!!! and promotes Science-mining cooperation.

Nobody cares enough to even say if this a stupid idea?

Re: Make bombs useful for mining
It is not a stupid idea at all. Are ores really lost from a maxcap bomb? That should not be the case! I love blowing up gibtonite, I feel miners should LOVE to blow stuff up. Lavaland miners are basically monster hunters, they should love to blow things up as much as a Scientist! It is really sad that I have never once had a miner ask for a bomb...I will try to make it a point to try and convince them to test some out on my next RD rounds.

Re: Make bombs useful for mining
I think this could be accomplished by adding bomb-only rock clusters with tons of minerals/rare loot inside. Self-sufficient miners can use gibtonite, or they can instead ask for maxcaps and blast through faster.

That sounds like a good solution.XDTM wrote:I think this could be accomplished by adding bomb-only rock clusters with tons of minerals/rare loot inside. Self-sufficient miners can use gibtonite, or they can instead ask for maxcaps and blast through faster.
Though I do have to say gibtonite basically makes TTV's completely redundant even if something like this was implemented.

Re: Make bombs useful for mining
If gibtonite becomes a bit less powerful, it means it's gonna take twice/thrice as much gibtonite to punch through a thick reinforced rock wall, which means backtracking and risk of blowing yourself up while defusing the gibtonite.
Another plus of the idea is that it could give diamond pickaxes/drills a purpose beyond digging slighly faster while costing way more than a plasma cutter.

Have lavaland be a bombcap free zone? Do away with bombs busting ores I honestly thought this was fixed at one point.

Re: Make bombs useful for mining
I've had miners ask me for minibombs from surplus crates when i was a traitor QM to mine. I give them the full syndicate bombs to.
Literally come back two minutes later with two full crates.

Even a loose singulo usually only gets to basalt. I think bombs are safe.
