Dark Souls is in the same sub-genre of multiplayer games as EVE online;
games where forcing PVP onto people who really don't want it is a major selling point.

Uchi is off the sword guy in the outside of Firelink, red eye is in high wall but you need to get to Undead Settlement and have a pale tongue
There's a guy next to the tall throne in Firelink that'll give you CREOs and the key to get the red orb

Well, I've been finding MORE difficulty with non-casters, so I dunno man. And my EVE instincts are on full power. None can be trusted, assume all who approach are enemies, even sunbros and unalligned phantoms. The Grief is real.

I'm amazed by the Greataxe power, this thing is actually insane when it comes to damage. I've been rolling with it since I got the strength to wieild it. I never touched any great club after this, they feel too clunky to me now. And the Hyper-Armor at the end of your swing can catch so many people off-guard...Not even mentioning the riposte/backstab insta-kill with the Hornet Ring.

I've had a few people invading me, also - it seems that along with Anor Londo, Lothric Castle is one of those invasion hotspots. Got invaded not once, but TWICE.

First time, I just got ambushed by a Winged Knight with his double axes, not far from the start of the area. Of course, the son of a gun red phantom thought he could rush me while I was busy with the Knight.

NOOOOPE.

Got out of there as fast as I could, into an area I knew I cleared. We ended up facing of there - he had a straightsword, I had my greataxe. He was actually a smart one, too - as soon as I went back to one-handed, he only went for double R1s in order to avoid the parrying.
He made one fatal mistake at some point, however.
He only healed to 80%. "N'aaaaah, I'm fine"
When your opponent can remove 750HP in a double R1...Yeah, maybe not that smart in the end.

Second one, was a funny Katana dude, wearing Ornstein Armor, named "You died really.". He tried to ambush me as I opened the door leading out of the Sunbros Token Delivery Station.
He did not expect the roll into double-R1 that REMOVED HIS ENTIRE HEALTH POOL. Funny guy died on the spot.

Also the Faithfull as a covenant is absolutely disgusting. I've never dunked so many people.

IT BEGINS

I managed to get the red eye orb and membership into a few covenants without leveling up or upgrading any of my weapons.

ITS TIME TO TWINK, BABY

Level 10 Assassin with a Chloranthy Ring, Flynn's Ring, Flameplate Ring (maybe someone is a pyromancer, I dunno), and Blue Tearstone Ring (It's shit, but I have a free slot)
Weapon is a Raw Estoc (making it raw gives me +20AR or so)
Magic buffs it up to 211 AR altogether
Wearing Mirrah set with Assassin's Hood
Offhand is a Target Shield (parrying everything, fucking hilarious. parried the uchi master to death. parry lothric knights to death. parried the dark wraith to death for the orb. wish I had a hornet ring)
Also Equipping my Staff and a Longbow. Hit surprisingly hard with the longbow, actually. Almost 100 damage per arrow.
Spent all my souls on more firepots and throwing knives because why the fuck not.

Name is "NO FUN ALLOWED"

Yeah, I've been Estoc-ing in PvP and it is... unfair. It's quite possible to play against it at high skill levels, but it combines being a solid 1v1 option with a top-tier pair of noob-stompin' boots and a fantastic ability to exploit advantageous circumstances (lag on your opponent's end, mobs, other players.)

I've been using a rapier and that one frost rapier for most of the game. Kinda want to infuse my normal one to cause bleed or poison but I'm not sure if I should.

Poison is pretty weak I only use it a little because the poison resin is easy to get.

Poison is garbage for PVP. It's way too slow.

Toxic is much better but the time you have to trap someone in a cloud, with how slow its casting speed is and all, makes it ridiculously easy to avoid. Unless you can trap your opponent in a piece of geometry somehow or you have a really solid bottleneck it'll never happen. Trust me, I've brought toxic cloud into tons of PVP fights and its only proc'ed maybe once. Most people know to just roll through it then kick your ass.

Bleed and Freeze are much better status ailments. Bleed can be buffed with things like Carthus resin, and luck affects how fast bleed builds up in a target. The Kukri throwing knife, in addition to dealing damage and interrupting sips, also contributes to a targets bleed rate. The spells Gnaw and Dorhys' Laughter also incur bleed damage. One of the great things about bleed damage is that there is no cool-down between Bleed proc'ing. If you hit someone enough to cause the bleed damage, continuing to hit them will immediately begin building towards a second bleed proc.

Freeze is only done by Irithyll weapons and can't be buffed.

For PVE there are a TON of situations where you can cheese something much more easily by applying poison or toxic to it. Mimics, for example, don't respond to having a cloud of that shit spewed right in their face and will quietly remain in their untriggered state as they die.

Maybe it gets better once I get Chaos Bed Vestiges and Chaos Fireball, but at least before those it's shitty

Magic in general needs buffs.

I think a buff to casting speed, magic projectile speed, and magic damage is in order, if you ask me.

I think I'm near 100+ hours played and still 0 blue sentinel summons. Very frustrating. I put way of blue on for a while and I got a guy who was summoned, took one hit from the invader, then ran away and black crystaled out. I got double invaded in the catacombs (I use dried finger solo ember to try and help my blue bros out) and I killed the invaders before they even spawned in.
Meanwhile, Mound Makers continue to be the best covenant in the game, and in any souls game.

My Pyro lady is up at 120 now. If we use the password system I think you could still summon her.

You can always summon someone when you have a password down (as long as you havent beaten the boss yet, but you can still summon red sign soapstones with a password at any point anywhere)

Well finally got back into the game after my crushing disappointment with the lothric sword. Finally caved into the estoc meta and well even PVE the difference is shattering plowed through 2 bosses it just seemed like the lothric sword was taking forever with one of which when it was +4 to the swords +6. I can take attacks of opportunity with it whenever I fucking want whenever I could have taken maybe 2 swings with the piddle sword I can make a full combo. With both of them at +6 refined 30 dex and str the lothric sword only has 9 more scaling despite having much less base damage than the estoc than that it weighs less this is all before buffs this is crazy.

The thief has the absolute worst starting shit. Jesus that was a chore.

Estoc is Bestoc- not only can you no-skil-r1-spam with it, but it's got great high-skill play, as well.

The Estoc is a good example of why I wonder how the multiplayer PVP gets valued so highly.

It's fun, and it's a rush, but it's a total shitshow of stuff like this. It's all about finding an angle on the game that is the least fair way to play and then constructing a character around that. It's your choice between doing that or getting crushed by someone who did that.

It's not so much a fighting game as it is a competitive sandcastle kicking simulator. Who can invade and ruin someone's playthrough the best? Who can interfere with someone else's fun? Who can build the next level of cheese that makes everyone else look at their cheese and think "Fuck, I wasted my time building this."

And that's fun and I enjoy it. But at some point you have to admit to yourself that you're half a piece of shit for enjoying it on any level beyond co-op PVE playthroughs.

I don't think Dark Souls PvP was ever about fairness. What the game needs is more areas that are like Sen's Funhouse, crazy trap filled places with plenty of chances to ambush and be ambushed.

Primo invasion spots are mob-dependent. Your best options for that are

Farron (dem crabs, those big fuckers with the tree stumps, also everyone stuck trudging through poison)
Chapel of Aldrich (silver knight archer fuckery)
The Dungeon (Jailers' HP debuff ruins peoples' lives, narrow corridor structure prevents hosts from running and helps prevent you from getting surrounded by BIG HOE AND THE PHANTOM BOYS)
