Yeah Duke stopped coding for it, he transferred it off to a space army sim mod, so currently the Bay12 guys are porting his stuff over and fixing his shitcode on it.

Duke quit because he almost got sued up the ass by Games Workshop after one of the employees accidentally mentioned it in earshot of a higher-up manager and basically had the choice to tell the manager all about it or lose his job. Didn't want a scare like that again, I believe. That's why it was re-named in such a generic manner; the intent was always that someone would make a mod for it that would play just like the base game, but the base game itself couldn't include any of the assets.

This is correct. I used to always read the chapter master meme story threads, so when the game actually started to take shape I was in fucking love. I also think that while he could have kept going with the new generic game he sort of wanted to move on, but it is possible that others have since picked it up. Maybe I will give it a play again

There has actually been a few improvements made since i last played.

I think the biggest benefit of this generic spacegame/chapter master mod is that the game no longer has to pussyfoot around official graphics/emblems and can use all the real iconography. When the game started all the chapter emblems were parodies of the actual ones.

I am a bit miffed that they STILL have not implemented all of the founding chapters and popular successor chapters. I just wanna be able to play as imperial fists and black templars without custom making my own shit. I really doubt that is more difficult than adding in the chaos mechanics and stuff.

I got into the streamline version, but there's just a main menu, a marine editor, and no actual gameplay. If you can hunt down a link to the old version of it I'll do that instead because I couldn't find one that isn't ancient.

I just installed the one from the Bay12 site yesterday and played it. It is pretty easy, all you have to do is unzip it and then unzip the modded folders into the game directory to get the real game.

I chose Scavengers to symbolize our marines stealing dead Traitor Gear, and Slow and Purposeful for armor slowdown

I chose warp touched to symbolize insanity roleplay, psyker intolerant because fuck psykers, and Never Forgive because we will never forgive the heretic, the mutant, the greyshirt for pushing us over and stealing our batons.

Overall the sector seems pretty under control. There's shitloads of Imperial Fleets everywhere killing xenos fleets, and Ork planets scattered here and there.

There's also a Tau planet in the bottom left corner. My plan was to explore around a bit for goodies and to make my way over there to see what happens.

I've split my fleet into two sections due to not wanting to order around 10 splinter companies, and transferred all my vehicles into their respective companies. The only exceptions are some vehicles in the 2nd company that didn't fit in our ships so I just transferred them to the 9th company which I left on our recruiting world for defensive purposes. I also made our attack and raid formations better than the default ones, and am currently sending our fleets to some Orks in the northeastern section of the galaxy due to planetary governors being pussies and screaming for help as their populace is butchered.

Edit : Oh also the Tau are apparently expanding into more planets and have a really sizable amount of Gue'Vesa forces at their disposal. I hope that an Imperial Fleet kicks the shit out of their space fleets so I can bombard their planetary forces into dust.

Edit 2 : Oh also I put all our geneseed into geneseed slaves because of how I organized my fleets. With that many space marines I don't think we're going to lose that many of them so I'll take the loyalty hit if it means we can have infinite geneseed.

Edit 2 : Our marines of ;HALP SEC ROUGE have faced their first battle against a minor force of Orks on Chanicia 2. We outnumbered them by 200 and it was a slaughter.

Edit 3 : We also clean up a moderate amount of Orks on Chanicia 1, taking the threat down from Moderate to Tiny and killing over 1000 Orks with our 900 space marines (I really don't know how there's 1000 of them when I split our chapter in half)

We get intel of a Fallen Space Marine on Eorschia 1, but upon arriving there we don't find anything. Several systems across the sector are invaded by Orks in the meantime as the Tau fleet gets dumpstered by an Ork fleet, so it looks like the Tau will be easy pickings. We also have our first space battle against a singular Ork battleship but it dies pretty handily. We continue purging Orks and collecting Artifacts.

Wow what the fuck. This is fucking stupid, the Inquisitor discovered daemonic items in my possession, but these were items I literally couldn't dispose of because I hadn't met the Inquisition yet. I'm gonna try and savescum to get around this shitty design.

Edit : So I made my battle barge leave the main fleet and it's all good, no daemonic items here at all nope, half my armory totally isn't daemon infested.
This also means I can dispose of all these fucking things since I've discovered the Inquisition.

I decided to start this again after I stopped being buttmad.

Oh also NEVER EVER EVER fight in space if you can help it. The only time you should even try is when you heavily outnumber the enemy, otherwise just let wandering Imperial Fleets wreck the shit out of them. Space Marine ships are troop carriers, not battleships. If you're lucky said fleets will also spam millions of Guardsmen at the planet until they win so that's also nice.

I'm running another Chapter, this time correcting most of the organization problems that plagued the older one. We're a homeworld chapter. We have Tyranid infestations fucking everywhere. We're in a very defensible northwest section of the sector, with zero xenos incursions. There were Orks but I purged them, and currently I'm moving southeast planning to purge Orks who are expanding incredibly rapidly, kill Heretics near the core worlds, and also kill Tyranids who are eating everything near the core worlds. There was also Tau at some point but they got ate by Nids and killed by Orks.

We have a few options about how we want to go about this. Once again, over half my armory is infested with daemons, and the other 25% is infested with chaos. So we can either hope that we can dump them all on the Inquisition... or we can give them to the sector governor to make Heresy explode fucking everywhere and fuck the entire sector, giving us liberal excuses to burn cities and glass planets.

WARP STORMS! CURSE THEM! Said storm has happened over a dead planet in a quite literally useless system with nothing of value so we're cool. The worse that could happen is a minor daemonic incursion once the storm has ended, but that should be relatively easy to deal with.

Edit 2 : DAMNABLE GREENSKINS! A Warboss by the name of Mugsnik has started a Sector WAAGH! so our Ork problems will be severe for some time. I hope the Imperial Guard can hold them off until we can get over there and stomp them.

Edit 3 : Upon picking up an STC fragement in our own little corner of the sector, we've siphoned all of value out of it, so we're moving on to significantly greener and far more bloodthirsty pastures.

We purge Tyranids from the Alaric system, while another of our fleets moves to the Manticore system to purge an almost completely infested system of Tyranids.

Edit 2 : We purge the Manticore system of Tyranids and return control of it to the Planetary Governor, the pompous bastard. There is a system with a small amount of heresy in it that I have some of my fleet stationed over, but I'm going to join up my entire chapter before I start purging. I've heard rumors of there being a massive underground chaos cult in this sector.

OH FUCK.

We were purging that planet and came upon a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh! Upon killing the fucking thing massive armies of traitors and Chaos Space Marines erupted on teh planet and we fucked off. Daemonic incursions spewed out of many planets around us as we left the system and the space around it was filled with Heretic Fleets. I can only hope the nearby Imperial Fleet gets the memo and stomps the heretic fleets so we can come back in.

IT'S PURGING TIME! In order to stop Inquisitors declaring my entire chapter Rogue unavoidably, I've taken it on myself to start smashing all the Daemon artifacts.

After killing what must be around 10 Greater Daemons of various chaos alignments, our armory is finally and totally cleansed of heresy. However we have literally nothing in it of value after that.

You can buy what is called a crusade license from the imperial guard that directs all their nearby ships to a system of your choice. Good for clearing enemy fleets

Actually nevermind I figured it out, it's around 1450 requisition for a crusade license. Bad news, my Chapter Master got sniped by heretics good news, I have a recent save so we're back in it just before the purge that released the heretics.
