i've actually been playing tuba since 5th grade, but its not anything to write home about and the last time i played was my senior year in HS for marching band. i agree about the sports thing, but i just kind of want to develop a SKILL, y'know? the only thing i can think of that's remotely interesting i have is that i've been told i'm a fairly decent writer, which sure i find enjoyable, but i always end up playing vidya or reading manga in my free time instead of writing down a story idea that pops up every now and then. thats why im leaning more towards chess or something, i want something that i can point to and be like, "yeah fam i'm really good at [xxxxxx]." i really like chinese GO, but there's no club for that. i want to try and find something that i can carry over and do after college, but the only thing i can really find that interests me is like, the magic the gathering club or the smash bros club.
i dunno. its late, ill look over the list of clubs tomorrow and see if something stands out to me.

It sounds like your bond with your parents is very important to you, you're prioritizing how they will feel about you having an interaction with your extended family more than what that might actually mean to you.
Kudos to you for at least relegating a potential cash prize to the actual worth it has: zilch. Money comes and goes in life. Having it does not guarantee happiness. The absence of it does not guarantee misery.
What you should ask yourself is how much the chance to reconnect with your extended family is worth to you directly, and whether it's worth upsetting your parents over. It sounds like they made the decision to cut ties, but you were probably not of an age to make that decision for yourself. As much as it might hurt them, it's okay to be somewhat "selfish" in this situation and decide for yourself here and now whether you also want to not have any ties to them. Solidarity is important, whatever happened between them may be worth sticking to your guns and siding with your parents. Knowing where we came from and all the things we have "inherited" is important too, though, and this could be your only chance to find that out for yourself. You may have only heard one side of the story all this time. I would think on that some more.
Otherwise, it sounds like you're in that early-life-crisis. That "FOMO" shit. I'm 32, I remember being 21. I'm not going to talk down to you and say "well you're only 21 you have all this time blah blah blah" because you've just crossed a major threshold where a giant fucking amount of things have already come and gone in your life. You're staring down the barrel of having to call yourself an adult now and facing the truth that you're not a "prodigy" of anything. You're not a child genius or a sports scholarship recipient. You feel yourself fading into the background count of human people you've passed by on the sidewalk every day up until now and it's causing you to start looking at yourself in all kinds of ridiculous ways.
Do that, but don't take it too seriously. Admitting that you're not special is the first step to figuring out what the hell you're supposed to do next. Beating yourself up for being normal wont get you any where, so don't get upset with yourself that people aren't bowing down and sucking your dick because you didn't cure cancer by 21. Yes, you should start thinking about learning a skill, and yes, it should be something you enjoy doing just to do it. This is the part where I'm a liar and I'm going to say that you actually are only 21 and you have your whole life to blaze the trail being the first person around you who is going to GIT GUD at doing the thing you enjoy doing and maybe down the road people will look to you as the provider for the scene for that thing. It's a lot of extra work and it's kinda terrifying but standing up and being the leader of a thing can be really rewarding. It's a shitty job but someone's gotta do it.

I had a friend like that but it turned out he just never started logging onto his pc and only started playing ps4/xbox. I considered this guy to be one of my serious best friends, we talked pretty much every day for hours and hours and played tons of games with another friend (who still logs on and I play with regularly). Without even saying he was going or leaving or taking a break or anything for a whole year he's just gone. later on I find out the ps4/xbox thing cause he started uploading videos to his youtube channel. it was seriously disappointing/heartbreaking. like honestly, this guy was one of the few people I seriously could trust and count on when I was going through some tough times and he just up and leaves without even so much as saying goodbye. I've pretty much removed him from my accounts now

I considered this guy to be one of my serious best friends, we talked pretty much every day for hours and hours and played tons of games with another friend (who still logs on and I play with regularly). Without even saying he was going or leaving or taking a break or anything for a whole year he's just gone. later on I find out the ps4/xbox thing cause he started uploading videos to his youtube channel. it was seriously disappointing/heartbreaking. like honestly, this guy was one of the few people I seriously could trust and count on when I was going through some tough times and he just up and leaves without even so much as saying goodbye. I've pretty much removed him from my accounts now
im seriously hoping this is what this is, i mean sure it'd be hard to know he did that but its better than thinking he might be horribly sick or worse :/

Fuck yeah that's the one, I don't know why I thought it was in a wooden box. I guess I just assumed it was a quality product when I first saw it because pizza is incredibly deceiving.
