Whether or not it is, it's pretty obvious who the inspiration for the HoP was unless it was done by someone on /vg/ (the art is the same guy who did that pic with the engineer and hivebots, a really old drawfag who's name i can't remember)

Also the lobby screen was replaced with it for like 5 rounds in a row one week on server 2

nah man even then you got the whole shabang at the top wrong and the curve.
a katana isn't a big curve like that, it's a gentle slope that reaches the top and then goes into a diagonal to form a point.

the curve on that sword reminds me more of a tulwar sword tho

im a big nerd for swords but i absolutely hate the katana.
as a piece of culture? It's a great object. As a sword for battle? I would rather have a shattered bastard sword than that shit.
