Re: What SS13 taught you
Damn these are hard to put into words but SS13 has taught me some real shit:
Never expect anything out of a person, surprises can and do happen all the time. Someone who you might expect to be incompetent might be the station's most robust, someone who you might expect to be untrustworthy might save your life more than once.
Being a good leader is difficult only if you make it difficult.
It's easy to get stuck on little things, looking at the big picture is harder in a way but in the long run so much more effortless and leads to much better results.
You make the round exactly what you want it to be.
You cannot control everything, and that's perfect. Seriously SS13 security, engineering, janitoring taught me that being a control freak is only extremely exhausting.

If cyborgs, and truly self-thinking AI's/Robots are ever created, giving them any form of laws other than the ones humans must follow can and will lead to trouble.
It also gave me plenty of ideas as to how a 'Man Machine Interface' really could be made.

Ah, but there is law.
Some might say that it is the law of the robust, but others simply point to the spacelaw.
And others point out that AIs have laws.

There is order, but no law. Order frequently devolves into chaos over the course of the round, but there is no consistent, recorded, and widely agreed upon set of IC rules.AseaHeru wrote:Ah, but there is law.

There is sometimes justice, but it's not reliable.
Above all else, Security's job is to keep the crew safe - Space Law is a tool and a crutch to do that.
