Clicking on things freezes/crashes SS13 on my laptop

This wasn't really a problem when I was playing SS13 on my gaming desktop at home, but now that I''m on a sorta-budget laptop at college, I've been having a lot of freezing and crashing in SS13 which is really really awful. Floating around the station as a ghostie is fine for the most part, but when I click on buttons (following someone, starting an admin-PM, spawning people cookies...), there's a very high chance for it to freeze for 6-10 seconds, and even crash after a little while. I have no clue why this is happening, and it's really getting in the way of being able to play and especially administrate due to needing to hit buttons constantly

For what it's worth, the laptop has an intel HD5500 and 8GB of RAM, although I have a strange feeling that the issue isn't that my computer isn't beefy enough for SS13. Also, the laptop has no ethernet port for some reason, and is wifi only, so perhaps that has something to do with it as well? Any help I could get would be massively appreciated!

Byond has been shitting itself recently and I've been having screen freezes as well as others. That's probably the reason.

Even my gaming PC has crashes on occasion.

Mostly when I try to access the library computer, that ends up shitting the bed for me

open the byond hub, then click the little gear icon for settings in the upper right, and go to about byond, and list what the version (lower left corner) is in the form of 50x.xxxx

Including your main computer (if you still have it)

I think this might be a bug in the newer versions relating to how they receive data

I have this exact same problem OP. My BYOND freezes or crashes outright any time I click on ingame links. It makes admin PMs and camera-tracking as AI nigh impossible.

Ive tried uninstalling/reinstalling both BYOND and IE to no avail.

shockingly, that might be related. I think it relates to getting data in one large chunk (like if it was delayed shortly by a wireless connection)

If I made my computer report higher receive windows (telling the server it can send more data at once without waiting for responses confirming that it got the data), then moved around a lot using admin jump, I was able to get it to trigger pretty consistently.

Downgraded to 506.1247 thanks to Shad, and while it doesn't outright crash anymore, it still gets really bad lag to the point where someone could say something, and only half of the message would show up, then it would wait five seconds, and then print the rest of the message and part of another message or two, and repeat

I have had exactly the same problem for ages. Posted a thread about it and everything. I'll have to try downgrading byond, but for me it's been an issue for about as long as I've been playing.

Try playing with task manager open and minimized.

Textbox lagging shit out due to lolbyond has been an issue for years and probably isn't going to be fixed at any decent rate.
