This is probably dumb and overcomplicated but I think it would be funny if wizard spells were broken into an method and an action and wizards could essentially just write their own spells (with cooldowns based on complexity).

E.g fire+self (which would literally just set the user on fire) or Heal ...

Maybe a large (e.g multiple square) communications satellite dish that adds some fun events or other rarer locations to gateway.

Alchemy: Like chemistry but basically magic and OP, though mostly just sillier. Like potions that can turn crewmen into sentient llamas, Izma style.

Counterfeit vending machines in maint that sell you items that are just worse versions of regular items would be funny, and maybe some way to make these cheapo items.

Modified climbing rope

Can allow ascent and descent across multiple floors and is actually reusable unless tampered with.

Get your alcohol amount at a certain amount and combat changes to fit how a drunk person would act. The risk being you can also poison yourself and pass out, plus stuns upon vomiting.
